I lost access to the email I used to sign up. How do I get back into my account?

Can’t log in to MyHeritage? Follow our step-by-step guide to recover your account if you've lost your email access, forgotten your password, or have 2FA issues

💡 Tip — fastest way to get back in: You can access the Account Recovery Wizard directly from the MyHeritage login screen — no need to search for a link. Look for "Can't access your email?" or go directly to the Account Recovery Wizard.

You don't need access to your email inbox to use it and get back into your account.

If you've lost access to the email address linked to your MyHeritage account, don't worry — there are several ways to recover your account depending on your situation.

Find the one that applies to you below.

I forgot my password but still have access to my email address

If you still have access to the inbox linked to your MyHeritage account, you don't need to recover your account — you just need to reset your password.

Go to the MyHeritage login page, click "Forgot your password?" and follow the steps. A reset link will be sent to your registered email address.

For full instructions, see: I forgot my password. What can I do?

I know my registered email address but no longer have access to it

You can recover your account using the self-service Account Recovery Wizard. You only need to know the email address you registered with — you do not need to be able to log in to it.

The wizard can help you:

  • Update your registered email address to one you currently have access to.

  • Turn off Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) if that is preventing you from logging in.

Before you start, the wizard will ask you to verify your identity. Depending on the information linked to your account, this will be done via:

  • SMS verification — if you have a phone number saved to your account, we'll send a verification code to your mobile device

  • Verification questions — if no phone number is linked, you'll be asked to answer questions about your account to confirm your identity

📌 Please note: Make sure you are fully logged out of MyHeritage before starting the Account Recovery Wizard, otherwise the process will not work correctly.
