OldNews.com (www.oldnews.com) is a website for exploring historical newspapers powered by MyHeritage. Launched in March 2024, OldNews.com offers hundreds of millions of historical newspaper pages from around the world, with millions more added on a monthly basis.[1] The website features a diverse range of publications from local, national, and international news from across the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and European countries such as Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and more, with extensive coverage of the 1800s and 1900s. OldNews.com was launched during the RootsTech conference of 2024 as a new service offered by MyHeritage. Over the next 6 months, millions of historical newspaper pages were added from various countries, and some enhancements to the results page were introduced.

Searching historical newspapers

OldNews.com enables genealogists, researchers, and historians to search old newspapers from all over the world. Users enter keywords, dates, and/or places of interest into a simple search form to locate newspaper articles on that topic. They can filter their results by publication name or date, and sort results by relevance or date.
Users can then view a high-quality scan of the newspaper with their keywords highlighted. They can print or download the image, zoom in or out, adjust the brightness and contrast of the page, and flip through preceding and following pages in the same publication.
As of September 2024, OldNews.com contains newspapers from the following locations:
Cutting-edge optical character recognition (OCR) technology

The content on OldNews.com is scanned using advanced optical character recognition (OCR) technology and enhanced with algorithms developed at MyHeritage. These technologies improve the accuracy and searchability of the text compared to services with inferior OCR models.
Integration with MyHeritage
OldNews.com is integrated with MyHeritage in the following ways:
- MyHeritage users can log in to OldNews.com using the same credentials they use for their MyHeritage account.
- Newspaper records that mention names of people in a MyHeritage user's family tree appear as Record Matches on MyHeritage, and these names are also searchable on MyHeritage's search engine for historical records. An OldNews.com or MyHeritage Omni subscription is required to view the full record.
