MyHeritage Wiki:Community guidelines

As members of the MyHeritage Wiki contributor community, we commit to the following:

Kindness & inclusivity

We commit to treating other members of the community of every background with kindness and respect. We will avoid using language or expressing ideas that may be hurtful to others. At the same time, we will make generous assumptions about the intentions of others. We also strive to provide content that represents people of all backgrounds.

Relevance

We commit to creating content that is relevant to the overarching topic of the MyHeritage Wiki: family history. We restrict the topics we cover to genealogy, genetics, and related topics or terminology that supports these topics.

Accuracy

We commit to creating content for the wiki that is accurate, factual, and reliable. When stating facts, we will provide citations to verifiable sources wherever possible.

Neutrality

We commit to creating content using language that is as neutral and impartial as possible. The articles we write are based on solid, verifiable facts, not on opinions or feelings, no matter how relevant or valid those opinions or feelings may be. They are also written in an encyclopedia-like and factual tone to uphold neutrality and keep the wiki consistent.

Accepting moderation

We commit to accepting the authority of the MyHeritage Wiki team or their appointed representatives to arbitrate conflict and make final decisions regarding the contents of the wiki.

Growth

We commit to continuously improving and growing the information available on the MyHeritage Wiki, including the translation and localization of its contents, with the goal of ensuring that it is as comprehensive, up-to-date, and accessible as possible. As such, we understand that the articles we write can and will be edited, expanded, and changed; however, the editing of articles written by “expert tier” contributors is restricted to other contributors belonging to that tier.

Generosity

Above all, we commit to the spirit of generosity inherent to the MyHeritage Wiki platform: the free sharing of knowledge that stems from the belief that everyone, everywhere, has the right to know about their family history. We release ownership of the information we write on the MyHeritage Wiki to the genealogy community.
