Central Archives of Historical Records (Polish: Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych w Warszawie (AGAD)) - Central State Archives in Poland, Warsaw. The archive has undergone multiple name changes: National General Archive (Archiwum Ogólne Krajowe) between 1808 and 1816; Central Archives of the Polish Kingdom (Archiwum Główne Królestwa Polskiego) between 1816 and 1889; Warsaw Central Archive of Historical Records of the Polish Kingdom (Warszawskie Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych Królestwa Polskiego) between 1889 and 1918 and its current name, the Central Archives of Historical Records (;;Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych) since 1918.

The archive was founded in 1808 by Frederick Augustus, Duke of Warsaw, and was known as the General Provincial Archive. Between 1831 and 1944, the archive was located in the Customs Chamber building at 24 Długa Street in Warsaw. Nazi forces purposefully destroyed much of the archive in 1939 and 1944 during World War II. Following the suppression of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, Nazi German troops not only purposefully set the archives on fire, but they also carefully burned each of the nine accessible fireproof vaults in the underground shelter one after the other (entrance to the 10th was blocked by rubble, saving its contents).[1]
In 1952–1953, the collections were gradually transferred to the Rachinsky Palace, which has been the residence of the archive ever since. The archive has a large amount of digitized material, which can be found on their website.
