If you would like to delete a family site, please visit the site, copy/paste the website address from the browser window and write to support@myheritage.com requesting to have the site deleted.
Go to manage trees & you will find you can delete any you don;'t want, I managed to duplicate my tree several times & found this (manage trees) & was successfull, will take a minute or so to delete each one, worked for me
Every time I try to open my heritage site on my pc it goes to opening page and then drops out. I just downloaded the program again and it is still dropping out. cannot access or edit any of my files. and there is a heap of work on there. HELP !!!! The online site is still working. Yrs L.
If an album is too large to download, try splitting the album into several smaller albums. To do so, click on the little tool icon on a photo. Choose the Copy option and make sure the check box marked “Remove photo from album X” is checked. Select the album you want to move the photo to and click OK. This will allow you to create photo albums which are small enough to download. Then you can resize them on your computer and upload to your site again.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an option in the Book Report that will allow you to change the font. You can, however, look into purchasing the full version of the Book Report software which does allow you to change the font on a report. I am new at family trees and have just started my own. Two questions regarding divorce. #1. How do you add a divorce after a branch has already been started. I don't know how to 'divorce the couple' after I've entered their children. I've had to delete the branch and start from scratch. #2. The divorce line doesn't show up when I've refreshed the tree. It's there if I view that persons branch...it just doesn't show up otherwise.
I'm new too but I think I understand what you're trying to do.
When you change the status from 'Married' to 'Divorced' it does not really break the link bewteen the couple, it just changes the Status to say divorced and changes the icon from a wedding ring to a broken wedding ring.
If you now wish to add a new wife/husband and perhaps add children to that new couple then you have to click the edit button (on the tree view) and select 'Spouses->Add Spouse' from the menu. It will ask you if your sure so you click 'Yes'.
You can now add the details of the new spouse and continue a new branch of the tree adding children if required.
To switch between the different branches, go to the common spouse on the tree view and click on the required spouse within the information window.
No, that wasn't quite my question. What you said makes sense though. No, my question seems to be that there is no place to edit a person when they are married to change it to divorced. I can add partners and children and delete the person...but I can't change anything. I just do not see anything that can change it from married to divorced. I've had to delete all the children and one of the partners, then put the partner back in, but list them as divorced from there instead of married. Then put all the children back in.
To change a couples status to divorced / seperated / annulled etc. you have to click on the EDIT button for the family (on the right of the box displayed beneth the Husband and Wife on the tree view).
From there you will get a drop down menu from which you select the top item :-
eg 'Edit Details: Joe Smith and Jane Brown'
On the edit window that appears, at the bottom you will see the marriage details where you can change the status to divorced (or one of the many choices from the drop down list)

Actually, I finally found what you were talking about! That DOES help! But here's another question for you! (How can you tell I'm new to family trees!) Clicking on the person now will tell me they are divorced. But from looking at the tree itself, it is not apparent. I use the modern family tree. There should be a dotted line between the two...shouldn't there?
hello, I have a rare problem - I downloaded a gedcom and imported it into one of my trees - the good news is I now have a huge family tree that fills in a lot of gaps in my research which I need to weed through. The bad news is now my family tree has over 58000 people in it, and whenever I open the tree, my computer bogs down. I would like to disengage a large section of the tree and save it under another file - is this possible? How would I do this?
It's possible to export a branch of the tree using our family tree software, Family Tree Builder.
Use the File > Export GEDCOM menu and select specific individuals to export.
I think it might be best for you to do something a bit different though....
I would start by reverting back to an earlier version of your original tree before the merge. You can do this in the File > Restore Project menu. Choose to restore a file from the disk and select the version by date.
Next, I would go to the large tree and use the Export GEDCOM menu to export the specific branches you want to include in your original tree. Save those smaller trees as GEDCOM files.
Now go back and use the File > Import GEDCOM menu to merge those smaller trees to your original tree one by one.
That way, you'll have a lot less mess to wade through and you'll have a much better idea who you've added and who might still be missing.
Your problem isn't that rare. I had a tiny family tree on one side and it has grown exponentially. The problem is I had to stop a couple months back because both sides have thousands of members.
I was thinking of sharing the geneology with different family members (mostly cousins) on both sides of my family, but I cannot do that without them extra data that is irrelevant for them. For an hour I have been deleting and getting nowhere except for sore hands from the same keystrokes. The problem is some people you cannot delete if you go through the list.
I've tried their splitting solution and it is not viable because it works by decendents and spouses, not ASCENDENTS and spouses. If they can make ascendent charts in the program then splitting the trees by ascendents should be only a small bit of programming that follows that same programming code except for exporting into another file instead of a visual file.
This part of it is very disappointing because I cannot go further until there is a way to do this.
unknowingly I created 2 family trees! help! can they be maerged? also there are 2 sets of people and each have pictures under their names... how can I delete one of them and keep all pics under one name?
