IMPORTANT
The analysis of your sample cannot begin until the activation is complete.
If your kit reaches the lab without being activated:
Processing will not begin until activation is complete
Your kit loses its place in the processing queue based on arrival date
Once activated, your kit goes to the back of the line rather than returning to its original position
To ensure the fastest processing time, always activate your kit before sending it to our lab.
How can I activate my DNA kit?
In order to activate your DNA kit online, please visit the page www.myheritage.com/dna/activate.
If you are logged in, you will see your name at the top-right corner of the screen. If it's not you, click on "Log in as a different user":
If you are logged out, please log in with your registered email address and password. Make sure you are logged in with the details of the account you purchased the kit from.
If you are not registered to MyHeritage and would like to activate a DNA kit that was purchased for you, click on ‘Sign up for free’ to register in a few simple steps before activating the kit.
1. Enter the activation code (the kit number) which you can find on the side of the vial or on the activation card.
Note: The "MH" from the beginning of the code is already written there on the page, and you should just type the series of numbers and letters after the "MH".
2. Click on ‘Continue’.
3. Below the question ‘Whose DNA will this kit be testing?’, select ‘Mine’ if the kit is intended for your DNA:
Note: If you activate a DNA kit for someone else's DNA, make sure you select ‘Someone else’s'. Please read How do I activate a DNA kit purchased for a family member? for further instructions.
4. Make sure you read and accept the Service Terms and Consent Agreement and follow the on-screen instructions to activate the kit.
Important notes:
Each kit has its own activation code. If you have ordered DNA kits for multiple family members, each kit needs to be activated separately from the following page:
https://www.myheritage.com/dna/activate
If they are not registered to MyHeritage, they will be able to sign up before activating their kit.
You may also activate their kits yourself and manage their DNA results from your MyHeritage account. Note that if you choose to do so, you will be required to receive their explicit permission.
Please also note that the person who activates a DNA kit becomes the only DNA manager even if it was purchased by someone else. Re-assigning the kit doesn’t change the owner’s rights.
If you have trouble activating a DNA kit, please read this article: What should I do if I can't activate a DNA kit?
You can also activate your MyHeritage DNA kit directly from the MyHeritage App, by simply scanning the activation code with your device's camera. To do so, open the app menu and select 'Activate DNA kit'.
