In Family Tree Builder you can do in the following way. Open Family Tree Builder, click on “Tools”, “Options” and there chose the category “Names”. There you have several options of how you want to manage names in Family Tree Builder.
In Smart Matches I find it difficult to match when Matching tree has selected to show married name.
If I dont know about a marrage I get a name I dont recognize. I need to go in to Verify person for each and every match because of this. It should be possible for the user (Me) to select how I want to see the names. I can then easily see which are wrong.
For some reason People who dont know about the naming conventions make a mix of everything.
IE.
We have Anna (born 1700 in Sweden) who is daughter of Per Andersson and she is married to Nils Svensson

Boa tarde,
in one tree when I select book report ..pics print in report ..but in another tree they do not ...can some one please help me .....please use my email address thanks
If you do not remember the address of your own family site and are looking for it, or if you are looking for someone else’s site, then you can perform a family site search.
To do so, please go onto Myheritage.com and go into Community. Press on the Family Sites tab, and you can search by the name of the family site.
This section has now been removed, as we introduced the new SuperSearch which includes searching for sites as well. You can now use this page to search for sites:
I'm curious if there is a way to adjust the way that the program (Windows) looks for parents. Histroically, children had two parents.
Now-a-days.... That isn't so much the case. (Welcome to the 21st Century)
For example, my mother had me a couple months prior to turning 16 (which the program doesn't like), and never married my biological father. I can't get the program to accept that they were never husband and wife. My mother doesn't care for seeing that the program calls them husband and wife. Also, my mother has married twice, two children from the first marriage, and one from the current. This means there are three fathers for us four children. The program flips out about that as well.
Also, on my father's side he has had two marriages as well, with children from there. These are technically half-siblings, but the program keeps trying to attach at least one of the siblings as a child of both my bio-parents, when it's only one.
Thoughts on fixing this? It's really annoying and projects an incorrect depiction of my eclectic family. It just seems like the programmay have been built by people who grew up in a "normal" home, and never considered that there are some very odd families (like mine) out there.
This is going to be an issue with my child as well, as his mother and I never married.
It's occured to me that future geneologists are going to have a tough time figuring things out from censuses with all the different styles of families(I am not necessarily talking about yours) which exist.
I'm an old grumpy goat, been in the army, teacher and a lawyer. I'm used to have things very structured and it makes me upset when I see no structure in things.
I joined this site 2012-12-30 and uploaded my first famili tree, that had about 5 000 persons in it. I usually work with my trees about 6-8 hours EVERY day and now have 27 626 persons in my main tree. All this had NOT been possible without this site AND the wounderful work a lot of people have done, uploaded and shared with others. A BIG THANK YOU to all of you, especially those who have accepted me as member so we can share information. BUT there is nothing good that hasn't somethning bad with it. Here are a few things I have noticed.
1. Why do some people allways use ONLY CAPITAL LETTERS in names, places and other information?
2. Why do some people allways use only small letters i names, places and other information?
3. As far as I know you allways use a capital letter as first letter in names, places (Harry Potter, London, England)
4. Why do nordic people use abbrivations for names? Eriksdatter should be Eriksdatter NOT Eriksdtr.?
5. A title is NOT a name. Countess Christina von xxxxx is NOT something to put in the name field Christina is the forername and von xxx the surname, DON'T put von at the end of the forename, it belongs to the surname. Put the title somewhere else NOT before/after the forname.
6. If you don't want other people to see your family tree, why publish it? I can accept that some of you don't want to show people still living but...... are they not a part of the familly tree and research? It's most ennoying to see Private in a family tree especially for people that have been dead for 200 years.
All theese small things have caused a lot of extra work and that time could have been used for more important things. Well I guess there are other things that people would change in other trees but, it would be nice if we could have SOME kind of standart when entering records.
I am just wondering how you are posting and complaining about a site you have not yet joined. You say you joined 2012-12-30. That is still 6 months in the future. ROFL, just giving the admittedly old grumpy goat a hard time.
I agree with a lot of what you said, abbreviations in names and places drive me nuts. But, did you realise how you entered the date - backwards. Genealogically speaking, so as there to be no confusion should not dates be written date month year. For example 4 5 56 could be either 4th of May 1956 or April 5th 1956 depending on your country of orrigin. And, lets face it, our ancestors travelled - so we need to be absolutely clear. Most genies I know write the dates 4 Jun 1956 for example so their is no mistaking the date. I told a newbie once, imagine your in Australia, and publish your tree and a person from Latvia reads it. There is no way that person will know the local abbreviations and place names, so moe, vic would mean nothing to them or Yarra, well here in Victoria could be anything. Formal writing of place names should be suburb, state, country. The CURRENT one - if people want to in notes add that the place at the time of occupation used to be called something else, then thats great, but if a living person wants to GO to that place, and haven't heard of the historic town, how the heck are they going to. Just as I would have no clue on all the 50 or so state abbreviations for America. Easy if you live there, time wasting and frustrating if you don't. Oh, and don't get me started on people who publish old photos under the titles of Nan and Pa, or Mum and Dad - please, give these people their NAMES not what they were to you. As I said, don't get me started.
I see no wrong with the date. Im from Sweden and it is correct for me. Also you will get the sort order correct if you use that format in text. If you sorted the places the same way (country, state, suburb) you would get all people born close to each other grouped.
I found your complaints interesting and, well, somewhat quixotic. Inconsistency, after all, is inherent in diversity, which is what most families not stuck in the same town for centuries have. Mine comes from every continent and I still have not figured out how to research my Asian foremothers. Certainly some people use or misuse capitalization or the lack of it out of carelessness, but in my case it was deliberate: I CAPITALIZE the GIVEN NAMES of my parents' ancestors, so that their descendants can pick out who carries their line out of anywhere from two to 12 offspring. I have noticed that other people capitalize the last name as being the most important. Some of the practices you object to are work-arounds for the limitations of the myHeritage program itself. For instance, I put royal and noble titles with the first name (of which by some, especially the bearers, they are considered to be an integral part anyway), because if you put them in the title spot on FTB, they do NOT show up on the on-line Info page of the Profile page--you have to go to the Events page. I modify and adjust what myHeritage provides to help our family history and genealogy make sense to my audience, which is not other myHeritage users nor even other genealogists, but the present and future generations of my own family. Others are welcome to use my research, but they will have to adjust the format for their own needs when necessary.
Finally--When you are retired and enjoying sunny Spain, what could be more important than putting your family's genealogy and history together for your children, nephews and nieces and their descendants?
At least as far as point number 5 goes, people just don't understand how to do it. Even though it's relatively easy to see. Titles would obviously go in the prefix box. People just don't know what the whole "de" "von", etc is, they just copy it from somewhere not knowing where to put it. People also don't really understand public and private. It seems that either a lot more people recently have put their trees on private or there is a bug in the system somewhere, because there are a lot more private trees that there used to be. They also don't pay much attention to "dead/alive."
Lucky for you.....kinda sorta. The nice thing about having nobility in your ancestry is not that it makes you a better person, but that there are RECORDS!! and ARCHIVES!! And if the records and archives got destroyed, the folks you are looking for are bound to show up in the records and archives of other noble families, because they all married each other. Of course if you are still a member of the nobility (which I am not), you don't have to do anything at all--it's all been done or being done for you. Of course noble families used to pay good money to chroniclers to link them up with fine ancestors factual, legendary, mythical, and even divine--maybe they still do. So you do have to be cautious and be prepared to have lots of grains of salt handy.
Perhaps all I need to know is as simple as which font MyHeritage uses in a Note so I can set the Note section of a Report to the same font.
I am trying to format the equivalent of a table which I can paste as a Note for a person but which will also look the same in the Note section in a Report. The problem is that spacing distorts the table badly. I have tried several fonts, using WordPad and using fixed-width fonts. I haven't found one that works. I have cut a Note to WordPad and it then indicates the font is Ariel 10, but when I set the font in the Report to Ariel 10, the spacing is not the same.
Another option might be to find out where tabs are set, or how they are converted to spaces in MyHeritage Notes. I find that if I use Ariel 10 with tabs, the alignment is generally OK in both the Notes and the Note section of Reports, but where certain numbers of tabs are used, the column location varies. For instance if one of the columns does not contain any text. I don't seem to be able to compensate for that to make it come out correctly.
I can fudge the alignment of the columnar entries in WordPad so they look fine in the Note, or fine in the Note section of a Report, but can not find a font which satisfies both.
I can live with the table looking ugly in WordPad if necessary, but having the Note look different from the same information in a Report is just not a good thing for a table. Hopefullly, if someone can tell me which font is the actual one used in personal Notes, I can set the font in the Report Notes to match and then I can manipulate the table as necessary.
Thanks to anyone who can suggest a font that will work uniformly in MyHeritage between these two sections. It would be a bonus if it even looks good as I compose it in WordPad.
Example of what I am trying to do:

Når jeg vil ønske et ægtepar tillykke med bryllupsdagen og jeg kun har mailadresse på den ene person, vælger systemet at beskeden skal sendes til den person der ikke har en mailadresse, hvilket ikke kan lade sig gøre. Hvis jeg prøver at snyde systemet ved at flytte adressen til den anden ægtefælle får jeg besked på, at adressen tilhører en anden person (hvilket jo egentlig også er rigtigt) og beskeden derfor ikke kan sendes.

I would like to buy credits for data – small package. I will get 1200 credits. How can I spend these credits and how much will I spend for accessing records on MyHeritage?
thank you for asking. To view records cost either 100, 200, 500, or 1,000 credits (depending on the genealogical value of the record). You will always get told how many credits you wil be charged before you accept each record. So if you purchased a "small package" of 1,200 credits then you for example would be able to obtain three records valued at 400 credits each.
