Kimberly Gilboy
Researcher at Legacy Tree Genealogists
About Kimberly Gilboy
Genealogy is a second career for Kim whose passion for family history began in her teens while querying her great-grandmother about her childhood and youth near Canterbury, England, and later migration to British Columbia.
An Accredited Genealogist® in English research, Kim graduated from Brigham Young University then earned an MBA and doctorate in educational policy at Stanford University.
She worked in private philanthropy in Silicon Valley for nearly two decades before returning to her first love, genealogical research. Kim studied genealogical research for two years at Brigham Young University Idaho and later served as an adjunct professor teaching genealogical writing at BYU-I.
Kim's areas of specialization include: British Isles, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the British Caribbean Islands.
Some of Kim’s most challenging and interesting projects have included:
- Digging into fifteenth and sixteenth century English manorial records (in Latin in archaic Court Hand script).
- Unveiling the stories of Australian Aboriginal ancestors.
- Collaborating with LTG’s genetic specialists to extend the lineage of ancestors with unknown parentage or other brick walls. Researching settlers in remote regions of Canada such as New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Kim is an advanced researcher at Legacy Tree Genealogists.
