1771 Code of Laws for the Island of Jersey.

Despite their small size, the Channel Islands—Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, and others—have a robust body of government records reflecting unique legal and administrative systems. While not really part of the United Kingdom, they have strong ties to the British Crown. Tax rolls, property contracts (contrats de mariage, land deeds), and court proceedings are especially rich. Official gazettes published legal notices, and military service records are available for islanders who served in British forces. Each island maintains civil servant registers, electoral rolls, and land cadastres, which are invaluable for tracing local families, especially in the absence of full census coverage.
