Mangan - Rooney - Ward - Bobbett - Ryan

My name is Patrick (Paddy) Mangan and I started this site thanks to Joseph A Kiernan, pictured on the right with my dad,  Thomas Clement (Junior) Mangan on the left, who was the source of much of the information contained hear.This site is a work in progress and needs your help to advance further. A brief out line of the various family connections over the years: Simon Mangan (died 1906) was a landowner and HM Lieutenant of Meath from 1894 to 1906.[1] A JP, he was also in business with his son-in-law Patrick Leonard in moving cattle between the west and east of Ireland. Simon  was the son of John Mangan (1788-1868) and Margaret (nee) Duffy (d 1843). He lived at Dunboyne Castle, which remained in his family until 1950, and married Margaret (nee) Larkin (1839-1921), a first cousin of Brig Paul Kenna VC. Of his daughters, Minnie married the architect Ralph Byrne, Emily married Patrick Leonard and Kathleen married Cmdr Ralph Tindal-Carill-Worsley, RN.Mary Rooney (1859 - 1940), Cottrelstown, Oldtown, Co Dublin married Thomas Mangan (1840 - 1923), Tobergregan, Garristown, Co Dublin in 1884.Ellen Rooney (1868 - 1945), Mary's sister, Cottrelstown, Oldtown, Co Dublin married Michael Kiernan (1864 - 1948), Balrath, Co Westmeath in 1899. Their son Joseph A. (1900 - 1997) assisted in much of the preparation of this work.John J Rooney (1863 - 1937), Mary's brother, Cottrelstown, Oldtown, Co Dublin married Frances Donnelly (1868 - 1942), 201 Cumberland Place, N. C. R., Dublin 7.Frances (Birdie) Rooney (1895 - 1985) a daughter of John J above married William Ward (1891 - 1979), Whitestown, Oldtown, Co Dublin in 1923.Lily Bobbett (1858 - 1932), Crickstown, Ashbourne, Co Meath married William Ward (1860 - 1929), Fieldstown West, Kilsallaghan, Co Dublin in 1885. William was the father of the above mentioned William Ward.Ethel Ward (1892 - 1974), a daughter of the above Lily Bobbett, Fieldstown West, Kilsallaghan, Co Dublin married John Duffy (1891 - 1969), Nutstown, Garristown, Co Dublin in 1918 William Bobbett (no dates available), a brother of the above Lily Bobbett, Crickstown, Ashbourne, Co Meath and Blessington Street, Dublin 1 married Julia Duffy (no dates available), Rivermount, Finglas, Dublin 11.Laurance Bobbett (1869 - 1931) a brother of the above Lily Bobbett, Fleenstown, The Ward, Co Dublin married Elizabeth (Bessie) Duffy (1871 - 1957), Rivermount, Finglas, Dublin 11, a sister of the above mentioned Julia Duffy.Julia (Granny) Bobbett (1898 - 1984) a daughter of Laurance Bobbett, Fleenstown, The Ward, Co Dublin married James Ryan (1890 - 1977), Muckerstown, The Ward, Co Dublin in 1918William Bobbett (1907 - 1990) a son of Laurance Bobbett, Roberstown, Ashbourne, Co Meath married Ita Monks (1905 - 1984), 63 Botanic Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9 in 1935Elizabeth (Bessie) Bobbett (? - 1939) a daughter of Laurance Bobbett, Fleenstown, The Ward, Co Dublin married Thomas Long (1905 - 1984) Milton House, Swords, Co DublinJames Long (1894 - 1956) brother of the above mentioned Thomas Long, Milton House, Swords, Co Dublin married Mai Fitzsimons (1903 - 1956) St Douloughs, Springhill, Co Dublin in 1928Catherine (Kit) Long (1928 - 1994) a daughter of the above mentioned James Long, Milton House, Swords, Co Dublin married James Ryan 1919 - 1982) Muckerstown, The Ward, Co Dublin in 1956Judy Ryan (B. 1963) a daughter of Catherine and James above, Milton House, Swords, Co Dublin married John Duffy (B.1963) Knockaneek, Oldtown, Co Dublin in 1994. John is a grandson of the above mentioned Ethal Ward and John Duffy.John P Mangan (B.1949), Tobergregan, Garristown, Co Dublin grandson of the above mentioned Mary Rooney and Thomas Mangan married Madeline Duffy, Lanson, Cranmer Lane, Haddington Road, Dublin 4 in 1991. Madeline is a grand-daughter of Peter Duffy, brother of the above mentioned Julia Duffy.Thomas Clement (Junior) Mangan (1925 - 2013) Borranstown, Ashbourne, Co Meath married Anne (Nan) Ryan (1925 - 2014) Muckerstown, The Ward, Co Dublin at Donaghmore R C Church in 1955. Patrick Mangan (B.1958) son of Thomas and Anne above, 92 Binn Eadair View, Sutton, Dublin 13, is the great grand-son of Mary Rooney and Thomas Mangan, a great-great grand son of Charles Bianconi (1786 - 1864) who brought the stage coach to Ireland and a great-great-great-great grand-son of Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847) the Liberator. Patrick married his partner of 32 years, Paul J. Fagan on the 30th June 2017Thomas Mangan (B. 2005) is the son of Raymond Mangan and his wife Emer (McGuinness). Thank you and keeep in touch.
