Judy Collins commented on person Alfred Edward PRIME :
Alfred Edward (Alf0 Prime jnr was my uncle and brother of my mother Josephine (Jo) Berry. Uncle Alf was born on July 15 1911 in Wellington, NZ and died in Aug 2008 at Masonic Nursing Home at Sandgate, Brisbane, Australia. Uncle Alf served in WW2 with the NZ Airforce and was based in England during the war as a radio operator. At one time he served in Africa and contacted malaria and it was the U.S Army doctors who tended to him and basically saved his life. When Alf was 63 he married Edith Mary (Eve) Perreau at the registry Office in Auckland, NZ in Nov 1973 and the following day a reception was held at his sister Irene (Rene) McKeen's family home in Henderson. It was the first marriage for Alf and the third for Eve. A year later Alf and Eve moved to Golden Beach, Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, which was one hour drive from Brisbane and they remained living there till about 1999-2000 due to their health and age and bought a unit in Aspley at the retirement village. Alf's sister Jo was already living at the village. About 3 years later Eve had a very bad fall and due to Alf being unable to care for Eve as he was frail as well, Eve was put into a nursing home in Chermside where she remained there until her death in March, 2005. Alf came to live with my husband Bob and I about 3 months after Eve was living in the nursing home and he lived with us for about 18 months then went and lived at the Masonic Nursing Home at Sandgate until his death in 2008.
Alf was very much loved by his nieces and nephews and their children in Brisbane,Australia and he was a kind and very gentle man.
