The McGlynn Families Web Site

My name is Patrick J. McGlynn, Jr., I started this site, and I can be reached by E.Mail at patmii@comcast.net John and Anna (Meehan) are my Great-Great Grandparents.  They with their first born, Michael, born in 1838, immigrated in 1838 from Crossmolina, County Mayo, Ireland to Pickering located near Toronto, Canada.  They farmed in the Pickering Area until 1855 at which time they moved to Culross Township, Bruce County, Ontario and homsteaded at Lot 4, Concession 1.  The farm is located near the village of Belmore  Following their deaths, the farm  was operated by their youngest son, Henry.  The farm is no longer owned by a family member.  John, Anna, and their son Patrick are buried in the Catholic Cemetery, in Formosa.  Their log cabin, barn and possibly some other buildings are still in use although both the main buildings have been moderinized.  On a door in inside the barn, John's name is painted as well as Henry's.  We have never been able to trace John and Anna's three oldest children, Michael, Anthony, and Catherine.  John's brother, Anthony also immigrated to Ontario with his wife Mary Meehan who is thought to be Anna's sister.  At least two of Anthony's descendents live in the general area of Belmore.  Anthony farmed north of Toronto.  Great Grandparents were Thomas and Catherine (Baker) McGlynn.  They immigrated from Ontario about 1895 and homsteaded near Stephen, MN.  He was killed by his bull in 1924 and Catherine expired of natural causes in 1931. His farm was subequently purchased by his youngest son, Michael "Clark" who later sold it to his oldest daughter Rita who was married to Lawrence Nelson.  Rita retired, rented the land out for some period of time, and then divided  it amoung her children.
