SPRENCKEL ....The immigrants WILLIAM, MICHAEL & PETER (believed to be brothers) landed in Pennsylvania, USA after the start of the 17th century. They held land in Lancaster County, but soon emigrated into York and Adams Counties, where many of their descendants still out surname has modified from the original spelling of SPRENCKEL into SPRENKEL, SPRENKLE, SPRANKEL, SPRANKLE, and more.....Our family travel from Germany ro Pennsyvania to eventually to Michigan MATTERN The original Mattern family, presumably of German-Swiss descent, bearing the name Mater from which Matern, Mattern, and Mottern families derive their name, came from this region in the Pennine Alps,ihe Matterhorn a peak on the Swiss-Italian border during the sixteenth century.. In 1732 a large number of German settlers arrived in America. The port of embarkation was Amsterdam. Early records provide the names of male passengers, [John] Peter Matern and wife was listed Shortly after arrival in the new world the written family name became Mattern.Our Mattern family lived principally in Lower Macungie Township and in Longswamp Township in Pennslyvania HARDER ... Harder is an English Occupational name for the tender of animals, normally a shepherd or cow herder, derived from Middle English hearde and Old English hierde - herd, flock. Variants are Hearder, Herter, Herder, Horter (German).Our Harders came from Canada to USA by Michigan  READER ..... In England "Reader" is a religious and secular title. In the Church, Readers are educators and lay clergy appointed to read from the bible during services... Reeders, I read were like Thatchers, working with reeds of thatch to fix roofs....Our Readers came from at Scugog Island, Ontario. Our Reeders/Gambles came to Cass City Michigan in 1850. * Joseph Reader & the Robert Gambles was listed in the History of Cass City and Elkland Township according to the book of Cass City History [2nd edition]"The Way It Was..." the Reeders/Gambles came to Cass City in 1850 [p17]
