Why can't I login or sign up to MyHeritage?

There are a few common reasons why you might experience difficulty accessing your MyHeritage account or signing up for our services:

Login Issues

If you're having trouble logging in, the most common causes are forgotten password, email errors, or two-factor authentication issues. If you no longer have access to the email address associated with your MyHeritage account AND forgot your password, or you are experiencing issues with your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) method, please click here.

Note:

If the access to your account has been temporarily disabled, we recommend waiting 24 hours before attempting to access your account again.

If you are still unable to access your account, please follow the steps provided here.

In case you can't find your account, please follow the steps in this FAQ: I can't find my account.

reCAPTCHA Security Challenges

You may encounter reCAPTCHA verification prompts, which are security measures provided by Google that protects websites from spam, abuse, and fraud. It works by analyzing user behavior and other factors to determine if an action is being performed by a human or a bot. MyHeritage cannot control when or how frequently these challenges appear.

To minimize reCAPTCHA prompts:

  • Complete the challenges when they appear (fewer will be shown over time)

  • Use Google Chrome browser

  • Disable browser extensions or add-ons that automate browsing

  • Try accessing the site from a different browser if issues persist

Geographic Access Restrictions

MyHeritage may be unavailable in the region where you live or that you are currently visiting due to several factors:

  • Regulatory Compliance: As a U.S.-based company, MyHeritage is obligated to comply with OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) regulations, which prohibit activities in sanctioned nations or regions. OFAC, part of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, maintains a list of sanctioned countries, and companies that violate these sanctions face severe penalties. To ensure compliance, MyHeritage and other international corporations must block access to their services in these regions.

  • Local Restrictions: Some countries or regions block access to certain international websites and services.

  • DNA Testing Regulations: Some countries have strict laws governing genetic testing that prohibit the sale of direct-to-consumer DNA testing. This limits our ability to sell DNA kits or provide access to DNA-related services in those countries, so only some of our features are available to our users in those regions.
