How do I download (export) a GEDCOM file of my family tree from my family site?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

You can download (export) a GEDCOM file of your family tree on your family site on MyHeritage.com.

(Note: If your family tree was created using the Family Tree Builder, please follow the instructions outlined here).

1. Log in to your family site.

2. Move your mouse cursor over ‘Family tree’ and click on ‘Manage Trees’.

3. On the page that opens, click on ‘Export to GEDCOM’ on the right side next to the name of the tree you would like to export.

4. On the next page you can choose whether to include photos to the GEDCOM file. Then click 'Begin the export'.

Note:

A GEDCOM file is a text file. It doesn't include the actual photos but it may contain the links to the photos' original location on your computer or family site.

Exporting GEDCOM files from your family site on MyHeritage will include the links for the photos. MyHeritage is able to import any GEDCOM file with links for the photos.
