Will my health information be shared with anyone else?

Updated over 5 months ago

No. Your privacy is strictly enforced. You control all of your personal information, and the decision of whether to share your results is yours alone. All of your DNA and health data is stored on secure servers and is protected by multiple layers of encryption. Your identifying information is stored separately from your DNA data, Health Questionnaire, and your results.

MyHeritage has never licensed or sold user data and has committed to never do so without obtaining explicit user consent. MyHeritage is the only consumer DNA company that has pledged to never sell data to insurance companies.

For residents of the United States, an independent physician network, PWNHealth, provides physician oversight for the health portion of this service and provides genetic counseling. Your information will be reviewed by the clinical team from PWNHealth and a physician will verify your eligibility to receive the full range of health reports offered with this service. After your results are generated, your reports will be reviewed by the PWNHealth clinical team, which will determine whether genetic counseling is advised.

In the United States, GINA (the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act) protects you from discrimination by employers and health insurance providers based on your genetic information. GINA does not extend to life, disability, or long-term care insurance. Protection against these and other types of discrimination may vary by state.
