About our family tree
This is a work that I started almost over 6 years ago and along with some help of the following people: Jane Singletary, Mrs. Vickery Dr. Bonnie Bell, Colin and Carol Brown, Don Forsythe,Jim M. Moss,Bob Newsome Terri Lynn Raulston, Betty Harvey Reed, Dale M. Sandusky and Lynd and David Vickery. If it wasn't for these people's help I wouldn't have gotten further than I have today, so I just want to say Thank-you to all !!!!! Here is a little history about the Vickery name, the name comes from Latin "Vicarius" and it means Vicar and it means "The priest of a parish in the Church of England who receives a stipend or salary but does not receive the tithes of a parish. A cleric in charge of a chapel in the Episcopal Church of the United States. A cleric acting in the place of a rector or bishop in the Anglican Communion generally. Roman Catholic Church. A priest who acts for or represents another, often higher-ranking member of the clergy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Middle English, from Old French vicaire, from Latin vicarius, vicarious, a substitute, from vicis, genitive of *vix, change. See weik-2 in Indo-European Roots.] And the first Vickery was recorded in England in 1248 in Oxford, England and his name was Gilbertus filius Vicarii And so with population growing all over the world, Vickery's have been transplanted all over the world. The names may have changed but the Vickery name will always be a Vickery

Missing pieces
For some strang reason, I along with several other people can't seem to find the parents of Joseph Vickery [the progenitor of our Vickery family]. Alot of people have said that he was born in Scotland and that his parents were Hezekiah Vickery and Merci Holland, but I have taken a Y-DNA test and so-far no-one with a direct link to Hezekiah has come forth and proves that these two (2) individuals are related and so until someone comes along and takes a Y-DNA test to prove that Hezekiah and Joseph are related , we will continue to dig down into the roots of the family to see what we can find out. We are always looking for concrete proof of any genealogy information. So if you happen to have CONCRETE proof, please let us know so that we can investigate it for ourselves and try to come up with the same conclusion
