Hanson Family

Welcome to the Descendants of Andrew and Olene Hanson website. My name is Chery Jett and I signed up in 2011 for this MyHeritage account and am the Site Manager.IMPORTANT MESSAGE:  After a lot of thought, I have decided to resign from scheduling, planning, inviting, etc. the Hanson Family Reunion. I have tried to keep it going, particularly in memory of my mother Charlotte, who dearly loved the reunions, but I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. Here are my reasons for resigning:1. Low attendance and low participation, including on this site and in our Facebook group. There are only a few who appear to be interested and are active in our family history.2. My efforts to keep the reunion going have included paying annually for this site for everyone to use, paying any expenses that "passing the hat" does not pay, and driving 300 miles each way to hold the reunion where it is convenient for the majority. I'd be more inclined to keep doing it if more participated.3. Family groups are "cliquey."4. I am committed to a pretty big historical project for 2016 (a parallel project with a documentary filmmaker on legendary Route 66 women) and likely another for 2017. Poor results with the family history groups and reunion reinforce my thought that my historical efforts are better spent and better appreciated elsewhere.If anyone wishes to take care of the Hanson Family Reunion and keep it going, I'll send you the spreadsheet with names and addresses. (It needs some serious updating as we lost some names off it a few years ago, plus we did not update this past reunion.)If anyone wishes to take over this MyHeritage site, let me know. Otherwise, it will become inactive on May 1, 2016. The current size/# of family members/etc. costs $100 per year. Speaking of our Facebook group, "Descendants of Anders and Olene Hanson," that will remain active and you are welcome to join if you have not already. It is a closed group, not a public group, so photos, contact information, etc. are not seen by the general public.If you wish to join, contact on Facebook one of our three administrators:  Kim Whitcher Majors (Edward Hanson line), Lauri Devine (Clara Hanson line), or Chery Eichar Jett (Gabriel Tobias line).Our family tree is posted online on this site!
