Electoral rolls are the nearest record Australians have to census listings and hence are extremely important to local, social and family historians. This collection provides information on approximately 135,000 electors in Tasmania who were registered to vote on the Commonwealth Roll of 1916. The information recorded includes the person's name, gender, residence, occupation, and polling information (i.e. division, subdivision and roll number).<br><br>Compulsory enrolment was introduced for all federal rolls in 1912, so the 1916 roll should reflect the adult population (over 21 years) excluding the foreign and indigenous population. This index includes all electors recorded in the 1916 rolls held by the National Archives of Australia. Of note is that it includes the supplemental rolls, as well as the names of individuals who were removed from the rolls. <br><br>Queensland Family History Society Inc. aims to promote the study of family, and local history, genealogy, and heraldry, and to encourage the collection and preservation of records relating to the history of Queensland families. Joseph Aloysius Lyons was the 10th Prime Minister of Australia. He was elected to the position in the 1931 election, and began his service in 1932. Lyons was re-elected in the 1934 and 1937 elections, and served as Prime Minister until his death in 1939. To date, Lyons is the only Prime Minister to come from Tasmania.
