Most of the scientific data for Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS) is based on studies conducted among people of mainly European descent. This is an industry-wide limitation and is due to the fact that Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), which serve as the foundation for PRS, are primarily based on European populations. We are looking for similar studies conducted among individuals of non-European ethnicity so that they too can benefit from this important technology.
If you have already received an Ethnicity Estimate from MyHeritage, you can check to see if you’re eligible for PRS reports by reviewing your ethnicity breakdown. If the total sum of your European ethnicities is greater than 95%, then you are eligible to receive PRS reports.
