To get started, let's clarify the key distinctions between an account, a family site, and a family tree. An Account is your personal gateway to our platform. An account can have multiple Family Sites, which are dedicated spaces for your family history research. Each site can contain one or more Family Trees. Click here for more information on the difference between an account, a site and a tree.
In order to be able to use our platform/tools & features including our DNA product, you must have at least one family site. Therefore, if you wish to delete a family site but actually want to continue researching on MyHeritage, you should first create another family site ahead of deleting the current one.
Deleting an online family site will permanently and irreversibly delete all the content in it, including family trees, photos, etc., saved on the online site.
It will however not delete data that is on your computer, such as your Family Tree Builder projects that you worked on in the software. For more information on this, click here.
In case you wish to save your data, you can do as follows:

Deleting your family site
Note: You can only delete a site when you are logged in as the Site Manager of that site.
First, make sure you are visiting the site you want to delete. Do that by clicking on your name in the upper right corner of the screen and selecting ‘My Sites’. Find the site you want to delete and click on the title to enter the site.
You can verify that you are in the correct family site by looking at the top left corner of the site, where the Family site name will be displayed:
Once you have verified that you are in the correct family site, click on your name once again (top right hand corner) and select ‘Site Settings’.
In the ‘Site Settings’ section, click on ‘General’ and go to the 'Administration' tab. There you will see the ‘Delete your family site’ option. You will need to confirm your password in order to delete the family site.
Please remember that deleting your family site will permanently and irreversibly delete all the content in it, including family trees, backups and photos.
