Recently I got a new upgraded pc and I installed and upgraded my heritage program but I didnt want to reload all that information again so I tried to download my family tree from my website but my program wont recognise the downloaded file. It says its a Gedcom file but importing it does not work........... can you help me out here I have over 1000 members and it took me ages to get it in the program???
I open my family tree page and then go to "manage trees" and select a family tree then slect download. With which i can select a directory. After I download my family tree I check to see if it has actually downloaded into the directory I selected. I've selected both a new directory and selected a directory with My Heritage both on my external drive. I immediately open my family tree and go to file and import family tree. No matter what I do my heritage does NOT recognise the downloaded file. I can even self extract the file and still the program does NOT recognise the files. I even tried importing from the initial startup screen....... no go. Also tried manage tree and let that import and expand my family tree...... using the restore project command doesnt do any good also. I also tried redownloading the file(s) with no luck. I'm at the end of anything I can try.
