Photo albums of family members

There is on the Albums page a " Photo albums of family members" section, which lists the sub-albums for some, but not all people in the family tree. Each subtree has a randomly selected photo of the person whose sub-album it is. In some cases the person's head was chopped off (presumably to cater for a standard size photo) in another case a blurry hardly visible photo was selected by the system.

Is it possible to select which sub-albums to have (i.e which persons photos will to be displayed) in this section?

How would one select the photos to be displayed for  the sub-albums' "front page"  on the Albums home page?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Tom Seiden

This randomly created photo album should be the result from the Family Tree Builder program. If the "head was chopped off" this might be due to the associated photo in Family Tree Builder. Check to see if it is the same dimensions there in the program. This is simply a feature from the publishing.

Sorry about the dealy in coming back to you but whenever I search for my id (levannak) in this message board, it comes back with 0 found message, making it difficult to keep track of my items.

The albums I was refering to are the single pictures representing the"foto albums of family members" displayed on the thumbnail option on albums. Thes photos display without a problem in FTB and also when viewed directly as an individual pictutre under albums. However in the summary thumbnails page the photos are cropped to what the program assumes is the "correct" height width ratios. See enclosed.

There also seem to be no logic as to which picture is selected for a family member, or any mechanism for changing the selection.

Please advise.

Hi,

The photo albums you refer to are created from photos included in your family tree. Each time you enter your site, a random number of photo albums are generated from scratch. Keep in mind that the photos may not show up in the same order everytime.

These random Individual albums are meant to be an added feature to your family site. We decided only to create a small number of these albums in order to offer you the feature while keeping loading time down so that you won't "feel" the effects.

If you would like to create photo albums which are not randomly generated, please use the "add album" option. You can upload multiple photos from your computer easily and quickly here. The first photo in the list will be shown as the thumnail "cover photo" for the album.

I believe the problem with the cropped faces may have to do with the size of the photo. Can you do me a favor and check the sizes of the photos which show up incorrectly? Are they all larger than 1Mb? If yes, I recommend using Microsoft Paint or Picture Manager to crop the photo. Cropping any photo to, say, 500Kb, will not hurt the photo's resolution and will save you a lot of storage space.

 Cheers!
