My name is Ann South-Goldsmith
and I started this site. This site was created using MyHeritage.com. This is a great system that allows anyone like you and me to create a private site for their family, build their family tree and share family photos. If you have any comments or feedback about this site, please click here to contact me. Our family tree is posted online on this site! There are 549 names in our family site. The earliest event is the birth of Thomas Brett
(1582). The most recent event is the birth of <Private> Bell
(Mar 5 2013). The site was last updated on May 20 2013, and it currently has 52 registered member(s). If you wish to become a member too, please click here. Enjoy!
Ann, Charlie's other sister here!! Pattie forwarded your email onto me. I have done a South Family tree if you would like access to it. Just let know
at my email address annsouthgoldsmith@g,ail.com and I will give you an invite to our site, if you don't already have access to it. Yes, you are right, we do go back to Thomas but we have managed to get quite a way further back and of course, have all the family tree her in NZ.
Just as a matter of interest, the South's came from Leigh, not far our of Worchester and William and his wife Elizabeth (Ross) married in Worchester Cathedral in 1778.
Williams son, William, shifted to Bristol where Thomas and his wife Mary Ann (Gould) and his family lived.
There is going to be a bit of a gathering of the South's from NZ in July as Sean (you may have met him) is getting married.
I do hope all is well with you and your family.
Kind regards
Thanks Patricia, yes you have all the details correct. I last saw Aunty Margaret at Charlie's memorial. We live in Worcestershire about 4 hours from the rest of the South clan so we tend to only meet at weddings and funerals. Charlie told us lots about the South's in NZ and we were glad to meet him at my Dad's funeral and later when he visited us. My husband Curt had a good go at doing our family tree on ancestry.com last year and I know Charlie was interested in tracing the South name back .We think we are back to a Thomas South 1791 -1873. Nice to hear from you, a terrible shame for Charlie to pass away when he was so young and full of life. You never know we might make to NZ one day but if you come back to the UK let us know. Helen
Birthday greetings to you Helen from your relations in NZ. My brother was Charles(Charlie) South and I had heard him talk about you. My name is Pat Bell (South) and I am his elder sister. If I a right your aunt is Margaret and I keep in contact with her although I did not meet her until I was in England in 2000.
I have come across letter written by Jessie South (nee Pearce). They were given to me by my cousin Margaret when I visited her in 1999. At the time I had trouble reading them and the people and event mentioned didn't mean a lot, however, after doing the family tree a lot of it makes sense. She even talks about old grandma Pearce, and as the letter was written in 1934 I was able to find the correct date of Mary Pearce's death - 1935 which I had preveiously had as 1915. Mary (nee Smith) lived to 79.
If anyone would like a copy of the letter - and there are several from Aunt Gladys to Uncle Jack as well, let me know and I will scan them and send you a copy.
