McCallum Web Site

Welcome to McCallum Web Site

My name is Ian "Weil" McCallum.  Our unknown past is now known deeper and in ways that we could never have imagined.   When I started this site the patriarchal side of Our Family Tree was completely  empty backwards from 1902, when the 12 year old undocumented orphan Francis (Frank) McCallum walked out of North Dakota, USA into Saskatchewan, Canada settling on a farm near Hanley/Saskatoon and going into other business ventures. We now know that his father was Carl Henry Weil of Randegg, Germany who immigrated with his brothers to Toledo and Saginaw and then he settled in Chicago.  Amazingly, a Weil family member and others have written Weil family histories that go back from Randegg, Germany to 1135 AD.  Suddenly we have added 980 years of family history where until mid-2016 we had nothing between 1900 AD and 1200 BCE. Frank's mother was Juliana Lugiewicz, an immigrant from Germany/Poland who subsequently married Joseph Franckowiak.  We are looking for more relevant DNA matches on: 23andMeftDNAAncestryLiving DNAGEDmatch Kit M144207  (recently added two more DNA testing labs from which testees can upload their test files.  This will increase the number of cousin matches.)  Note: on our tree--and usually we indicate which ones--we have placed some people are probable extended family members due to DNA matching with their descendants.  It is a means of finding people to provide information that will either corroborate or refute these people, and may result in providing better ones. I apologise if this has misled anyone.
