Lisette's Family History Website

Welcome to Lisette's Family History Website

My name is Lisette Cousins and I've spent approximately 19 years researching my Family history. I've had two DNA Tests done on myself and the results show that I am from the U4 Haplogroup (taken from my female line).I am at present sifting through my numerous files containing photos and documents, scanning them and adding to this site.  I have also subscribed to the Family Tree DNA site as well as Find My Past Uk and Ireland sites where I'm busy finding Birth, Marriage, Death certificates as well as Newspaper Articles etc. etc.If you have any information, document, photo which you would like to add to the project, I would be very happy to upload it to the site. This site concentrates on my Arpin side (Dad) as well as my Walden side (Mom). The Arpin side is very interesting with Thomas John Arpin being sent out to South Africa from London in 1833, by the Children's Friend Society, he was 13yrs old. He eventually went on to marry Martha Maria Kleynhans in Cape Town, and I have reseached this line quite far back.My Walden side is proving to be a challenge, and I have found very interesting information on the Colloty/Kilian side. I have recently discovered that Joseph Walden married Rachel Grieve (Greave/s) and I am desperately trying to link her into the tree. She seems to be connected to the Coleman/Moodie/Montgomery families and I am currently searching for the link.I would also like to thank the late Henry Colloty for sharing his research with me on this side of the family, and in recent years, his son Shane Colloty has started his own Tree and we share a lot of information.Update on my gggrandfather Patrick Johnstone Colloty- DNA has proven a wonderful tool in finding that Patrick was Irish and I am now connected to family that went to New Zealand!!! I started researching my husband's family, Cousins, in about 1999, they came to South Africa from the UK in the early 1920's. In 2000 we tried to apply for Craig's British Citizenship and were unsucessful, even with all the relevant documents in place. Now 16 years later, things have changed and we have once again put in his application and are currently waiting for news!!Update!! Today Wednesday 22 February 2017, Craig and his eldest brother, Lynton, were sworn in as British Citizens.17 years of hard work and patience has finally paid off and we now await their British passports. I have had a great deal of help from his family in the UK, namely Ralph Cousins, Jeremy Cousins, his late Aunt Dorothy Cousins from Australia, her late son, Michael Franks and his brother Robin Franks in America. This site was created using MyHeritage.com. This is a great system that allows anyone like you and me to create a private site for their family, build their family tree and share family photos.
