James then walked overland to the Barrosa Valley in South Australia where he became a farmer. My grandfather Robert Lewis and father Basil were born in Bute South Australia. Capt Samual Mitchell who was born in Redruth Cornwall accepted the managers position of the Geraldine Mining Company north of Northampton Western Australia in 1867 and brought 8 experieced miners with him. His wife and young children were to follow later.My wife's grandfather Edgar was born in Northampton in 1876.
