I am looking for a great grandfather named Charles Stebbins. He supposedly was born in 1807 in New York and came to Wisconsin sometime inthe 1850's. He came to Vernon County or Richland County Wisconsin. He had a son named Charles Henry Stebbins and was born in 1840 in Boston Mass. He went to the Boston Academy. He joined the Civil War when he was 16 as a messenger. Then later he rejoined with his black horse. In the poem of "Sherridan's Ride" , that was my grandfather's horse that he used. I have seen what other people have written about my ancesters but nothing seems to fit. Lil
