THANK YOU.
My grandfather was James Richard Hipkin. He had 2 older brothers, Thomas and Alfred. Their parents were William Hipkin and Elizabeth (nee Pawley). They were all born at Hempton/Fakenham which is in the Walsingham registration district. Uncle Alfred, born in 1886, was married to Sarah Jane (Nee Softley) and they had 2 sons, Clarence and Victor. I believe that Alfred, who I met a few times when I was young, died in Boston. I do not know what became of Thomas but my granddad did say that he died at sea whilst he was still a young man.

So sorry, I meant Clara! (Typo. error or just getting old).
I do have quite a lot of information about the Hipkin family. My grandfather (James Richard), younger brother of Alfred, married Gertrude Curtis from Salhouse in 1919 and they had 3 children, William, Kate (my mother) and Roy. None of them are surviving but all 3 had children who are still living. Great Grandfather William ( 1862-1937) was married to Elizabeth Pawley. His father was Richard Hipkin (1826-1892), married to Mary Ann Bassham (1833-1917). Richard 's father was Thomas (1789-1852) and he was married to Amey Bee (1801-1849)
My grandad was in WW1 and served with the Norfolk Regiment in Mesopotamia. In WW2 he worked for the Ministry of transport and spent a lot of time constructing dummy airfields along the N Norfolk coast.
I would love to know more about my grandad's brothers. I did meet Alfred a few times and I seem to recall that some of his sons were fishermen. If this is so then I met them too.!! I do have some certificates which you might like copies of. It would be easier to attach these to an e-mail.
My e-mail address is b.scade@btinternet .com.
If you are happy for me to have your e-mail address then I would be very happy to let you have copies of certificates and photographs of my grandparents (if you would like them)!!
