My name is Sam Lewis and I started this site. This site was created using MyHeritage.com. This is a great system that allows anyone like you and I to create a private site for their family, build their family tree and share family photos. Before 2009, our family had never known who "Grandfather Lewis" is. In 2009, in an attempt to locate our "Lewis" family line, I submitted DNA for testing. Based on DNA testing, our surname should have been Wilder. We are paternal direct descendants of the Thomas Wilder that immigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony about 1638. Based on Chromosomal testing in 2017, our paternal great grandparents are Luther Wilder and Sarah Byham. There were 5 male children, with Jonas being the most likely father of the 1873 Samuel James Lewis. We are also Mayflower descendants of William White and Susanna Jackson and their son Resolved White. Our family tree is posted online on this site! There are 24770 names in our family site.
