My name is Arnold "A.J." Johnson Holm and I am the WebmasterThis site was created using MyHeritage.com and is a work in progress. Being a fifth generation San Franciscan has always been a part of our family. Our dear father, Paul B. Holm, Sr. was fifth of six children, he graduated from San Mateo High School, was an all American basketball player for Santa Clara University (graduating class of 1950), and a WWII Veteran. Paul also worked 30 plus years for the City and County of San Francisco, as the City Attorney's Administrator. God only knows what actually happened to a young soldier defending his country in war?Paul B. Holm, Sr., our dad, spent his later years as a nationally ranked seniors tennis player (sometimes teaming up with his brother, he and uncle Ivan were unstoppable as double partners) and was a certified tennis professional.Our beloved mother, Gertrude "Trudy"Johnson, was born in San Francisco, an only child. Trudy attended the same grade school in San Francisco, the Convent of the Sacred Heart, as her mother, and aunts. The catholic religion, french language and culture was important to her grandmother, a descendant from the de Forcade's of France. Trudy graduated High School from Mercy Berlingame and received her BA in Sociology and Art History from the Dominican College of San Rafael. Trudy was a member of the San Francisco Spinsters, and was a flight attendant for PanAm (despite her mothers concerns) on their transatlantic flights (the 'tec boom' industry equivalent of the time) to Asia and the South Pacific.Our paternal grandparents were, Ramona Tomas(s-z) (Sagala) and Holm Dion Rafael Holm, Sr. also a proud San Franciscan, Graduate from St. Ignatius High School, he received his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara College (University), he later studied law initially at Bolt Law School, UCB and graduated from Santa Clara (University), Law School. Our Grandfather Dion's law career began with the state of California, and Dion later became one of the national referenced attorneys on utilities. was the San Francisco City Attorney for thirteen years from 1949 to 1962. Grandfather Dion had two sisters; Hazel, whom was married to Cornell Stockmar, they lived in Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. Another sister, Lorain, died as a young girl and has the Angel statue in her honor at the Holm family burial site at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, Ca. Dion and Hazel grew up in the house their Parents built (around 1900) at 805 Scott Street, San Francisco (across the Debouce Park from the famous post card view of the painted ladies).Grand Father Dion's Father, Thomas Niel Holm, (was owner and partner of one of the largest Millinery's this side of the Mississippi, "Holm and Nathan". They had a warehouse in South of Market and a retail shop on Market Street in San Francisco.Grand Father Dion's Grand Parents were from Denmark and were grocers (## location of store to be located##). Selling produce and items to ships returning and departing from the San Francisco bay to all parts of the world.Our Paternal Grandmother, Ramona Tomas(s-z) (Sagala) Holm, an only child, was the beloved mother of six children and 21(22) grandchildren. Ramona maintained their stately home at 168 West Bellview in San Mateo Park, San Mateo. In her later years, after the passing of Grandfather Dion, Ramona returned to San Francisco and lived in a family building at Central and Height. Having a big heart , grand mother Ramona would have her grand children with her. Many of our cousins lived with Grand Mother Ramona while attending Colleges and Universities in San Francisco. Ramona was also know from time to time for feeding the poor 'strung out souls' from the summer(s) of love in the Height Ashbury district of San Francisco.I believe a stained glass window was donated by our grandparents to their Parish Church, St. Catherine's in San Mateo.Grand Mother Ramona, was born in Clear Lake, California.  Her Father, Joseph Ferdinand Sagala, from French decent, was one of the first people baptized in the ____________Catholic church in Berkeley. The same church our cousins Donald, Daniel and Debbie were also baptized.Grand Mother Ramona as a young woman, moved from Clear Lake, Northern California to San Francisco with her mother and grand mother. Lottie Irene Dow, know as Queenie by her grand children (my father and uncles) married Mr. Smith (her 2nd or 3rd husband) and their home was just off beautiful Dolores Street, on 22nd and Elizabeth in San Francisco.Grandmother Ramona's family are direct descendants of both Aristocracy and Native American heritage. Grandmother Ramona's grand mother was Tomas Menona Cheyenne (WY) who Married Lt. Lancaster Platt Lupton, http://www.spvhs.org/HistoryAndEducation/FortLuptonItsBeginning.htm and had eight (six survived) children. Settling later in Norther California, the Lupton family received a 150 acres land grant in Humboldt County, CA.Our Maternal Grandparents: H. (Horace) Arnold Johnson (my name sake) was the son of a Norwegian ship Caption, Captain Andrew Johnson (ships name to be locate) during World War I. The ship (ships name to be locate) of our Great Great Grandfather Captain Andrew Johnson is now housed in Hawaii as on of the ship museums. H. Arnold Johnson was one of six children. Papa, as we called him, was the type of man that seemed bigger than life. A successful business man in sales and later as founding partner in the Stock Analyst firm of Johnson Bernstein and Bond.  H. Arnold Johnson was married to our grand mother, Gertrude Helen (Harrington) Johnson. "Baba" was one of four sisters, graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Mission High school, and San Francisco State 'College' (now University) with a teaching degree. She and her sister, Dorothy (Harrington) Reynolds were members of the Omega Nu Sorority. I recall my grand mother and great aunts fond memories of weekend trips to golden Gate Park and the fun dancing parties they held in their home in the city on 14th Street near Noe Street. The home on 14th Street was owned by our Great Grandfather, Francis (Frank) Harrington, and his wife Mary Alice Dorroughty (de Forcade). Frank too had a personality larger than life and was loved and well respected by the Rail Road Staff, for his fifty years of service with (Union Pacific rail roads??? to confirm name) . Baba had three sisters, "Auntie Dot Dot" Dorothy Theresa, Aunt Alice, and Auntie May all born in San Francisco. Auntie Dot Dot the youngest out lived her sisters and husband and passed away in 1998 at the age of +/-96 in San Francisco her birth city. Aunt Alice lived the longest of the Harrington sisters, passing away in 1988 at the age of 98 (##dates to be checked from holy cross records##).Auntie Dot Dot, the youngest Harrington sister was married to 'Uncle Mac' McKinley's Reynolds, DDS, long time resident of Palo Alto, a graduate from University of California Dental School and practiced dentistry in Palo Alto for approximately 40 years (##dates to be confirmed##).Holy Cross Cemety, the Harington Plot is the final resting place for our mother and father and our mothers relatives. As a member and proud sixth generation Californian family, I was very pleased to discover a direct lineage to one of the oldest Americans Families by our great, great, great, grandfather Lt. Lancaster Platt Lupton.  Lt.
