"... since a tramp entered the residence of Daniel Hall and stole Mr. Hall?s overcoat, which was hanging on the rack in the hall. A few days after the theft, Marshal Kerr, while at Juneau, heard of an overcoat having been sold to one of the citizens by a tramp who was then in jail. Several days subsequent to this, Marshal Kerr was apprised of Mr. Hall?s loss and naturally inferred that the Juneau overcoat belonged to him.
