I cannot sync my tree, what should I do?

Updated over 4 months ago

Due to the release of security patch for macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 on April 16th, our users are unfortunately no longer able to sync from our software to their MyHeritage family site. Using the Family Tree Builder on macOS Sequoia is unfortunately therefore no longer supported and we recommend you to instead continue building your family tree on your family site.

Sync issues can happen due to several reasons, the first steps to troubleshoot a sync issue are the following:

1. Make sure your internet connection is running properly. Test it by opening an online site for example.

2. Check if you are logged in FTB using the same e-mail which you used to log in to your family site.

You can learn about it here: How do I change my login details in Family Tree Builder?

3. Make sure you are running the latest Family Tree Builder (FTB) version. Use the “Update” feature to see if you are running the latest version. To install the latest version of FTB, click here.

4. Make sure that you are trying to sync to your correct family site. To learn more about it, visit:

5. Restart FTB and try to sync again.

6. Make sure that the MyHeritage folder is installed on your computer (C:\Documents\MyHeritage) and not on a cloud/online drive service, such as OneDrive, iCloud Drive, or Dropbox.

If the sync issue persists after following the above, please contact support by clicking the option “No” below in the question if that article answered your question.

Important:

Please provide the exact name of the tree that you are trying to sync and let us know if the sync issue happens for any other tree as well (in case you have more than one).
