How do I use the Audio Recording tool in the MyHeritage mobile app?

Audio Recording is a new free tool available on the latest version of the MyHeritage Mobile App. It allows you to interview your relatives with just a few taps right in the MyHeritage mobile app. The audio is then uploaded to your family site on MyHeritage, where it is stored for future generations.

Download the MyHeritage App and use the Audio Recordings feature to interview members of your family, following these instructions:

Run the MyHeritage app on your smartphone.

Tap the ‘Tree’ icon to open your family tree.

Click on the Person Card of the relative you would like to interview to open their profile page.

Tap on the plus button at the bottom right of the profile...

...and then tap on the audio button on the side of "Add audio".

During a recording, a sound wave will give you visual feedback that the audio is being received successfully.

Once the 'Stop' button is pressed, the audio file will be saved automatically as MPEG 4 audio file (M4A) and uploaded to your family site, where it will be associated with that person’s tree profile.

The number next to the 'earphones' icon shows how many recordings this profile (this person) already has.

If you would like to delete a record, you can either swipe it in the recordings list or tap it and click on the recycle bin icon.

Note 1:

If your smartphone becomes disconnected during the upload, it will resume the next time you run the app, exactly from where it left off. You can meanwhile move on and record another interview session while the previous recording is still uploading.

Note 2:

The MyHeritage Backup service that covers all family trees on a family site will also back up all your audio recordings.

Audio recordings can be accessed and played at any time from the family site, or from the recordings page in the mobile app.
