Constructing children’s surnames by combining the first part of the father’s surname and the first part of the mother’s surname is the tradition of many Spanish-speaking families.
To use this tradition for suggesting the last names of children in your tree please do the following:
1. Open your tree in Family Tree Builder.
2. Go to the ‘Tools menu in the upper menu bar and select ‘Options’.
3. Under the ‘Names’ section you will see the ‘Use Spanish Tradition for suggesting last names of children’ option.
Choose ‘YES’, and click ‘OK’ to save.
