Half Siblings

I cannot seem to add half siblings to my family tree and that's all I have.  I have added a half sister and then tried to remove her connection to one of my parents and that won't work either.  Can anyone help?  Is anyone at MyHeritage paying attention?

If I understand you correctly;

I don't believe you can set up a half-sibling without first setting up the parent(s).

In order to show half-siblings, they need to be connected through their respective parents. That is, you need to show FATHER1 MOTHER1 who have CHILD1, and then connect MOTHER2 to FATHER1 as a 2nd spouse (or partner, or whatever description is most accurate).  Then, FATHER1 MOTHER2 can have CHILD2. CHILD1 and CHILD2 will be half-siblings.

If the MOTHER2 is unknown, then a placehold of 'unknown' would work.  But I think you do need to have that mother in the system, in order to let the system keep track of who's who...

Hi Gregory,

The essence and basic idea in the genealogy is to build up the blood line of an individual. S, every individual has biological parents (a father and a mother).

Under this point of view half siblings have a biological father and a biological mother. This is normally the first step to enter an individual into the tree. All other relationship descriptions are, pragmatically regarded, administrative/organizational relationships.

This kind of relationships can be defined in the individuals profile. There You can define for instance if an individual connects as an adopted one to a specific pair of 'father & mother'.

Hope this helps.

Best regards
