Since I have installed macOS High Sierra,

I cannot open Family Tree Builder,

but receive this message:

Initialization Failure

CrossOver is unable to initialize a critical component.

Failed to import cxutils module into Python.  See console for errors.

The program will now exit.

I have written on a number of occassions to the team and get the same umhelpful answer each time:

As I explained you in my previous email, I do not have expected date of when this issue will be fixed. I suggest you to check our blog to keep being updated: https://blog.myheritage.com/

Should you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I wish they would be honest and just say that they are only supporting the windows community - funny how they took my annual subscription straight out of the bank on the exact day it was due !!!!

I am going to see about getting my money back as the on-line faclity is nowhere near as powerful as the now defunct software - (which they are still promoting by the way)

Very fed up of Essex ........

I just updated from Yosemite to High Sierra and am now receiving the same message.
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px 'Helvetica Neue'} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; min-height: 12.0px}

Initialization Failure

CrossOver is unable to initialize a critical component.

Failed to import cxutils module into Python.  See console for errors.

The program will now exit.

I deleted the application and then reinstalled and I still get the message. I hope that we are notified when the problem is fixed.

Hi Julie,

The current version of FTB 7 for Mac is not compatible with the latest release of Mac OSX, which was released in the last days of September. For supported versions of Mac OSX with FTB 7, see the following link: http://www.myheritage.com/help-center#/path/951697771 The MyHeritage Team is aware of it and has some adjustment work for this in the planning. However, currently, there is no time frame known on when this will be available.

For more detailed information send an email to the support (support@myheritage.com).

Best regards

Remo

I got the update for High Sierra yesterday, now family tree builder won't work, and if this is going to take time to fix, are we going to be re-imbursed for the time lost in not being able to use this program.

All Mac users get this problem.

Writing to support will not help. This is from the answar I got after writing to them three times:

"We are aware of the issue and doing our best to resolve it as soon as we can."
"Bugs and feature requests are prioritized according to how many users write to support about them "
"As much as we would like to, we can't fix every bug and feature that is requested."

Now I have Goggled it, and find, that the problem has existed at least since 2015.

They should be honest and admit that they do not support Mac-users. This should be widely known so we can choose the right tool. And MyHeritage / Family Tree Builder is not the best choise if you - or anyone in your tree - is using Mac.
