Family Tree Builder Initialization Failure

Since I have installed macOS High Sierra,

I cannot open Family Tree Builder,

but receive this message:

Initialization Failure

CrossOver is unable to initialize a critical component.

Failed to import cxutils module into Python.  See console for errors.

The program will now exit.

I am having the exact same issu!!

But the latest OS was not the problem - maybe the last update to it? The MyHeritage software was working fine when I last used it about a week ago.

The latest OS for my Mac was installed 4th november. There has been a more recent securty update to that OS but that was nearly 2 weeks ago so that does not seem to be the problem.

Perhaps an issue with Java or Flash Player?

Anyway I have followed the suggestion and contacted support. Will report back to forum if I get a resolution

Thanks Remo I think that worked as I have now had a response from the support team and will leave the information here for others who have had this problem.

 1) MyHeritage do know there is a problem with compatibility with the new macOS High Sierra and are working to fix the issue

2) They recommende we continue working on the online website for now.

I did not realise that last was an option so will try that out.

Hope that helps others who are concerned about this issue.

Hi Horst,

Please send an email to the support (support@myheritage.com) with all infos You have, and possible screenshots.

There are a lot of entries in different Mac forums with problems about High Sierra, APFS vs. HFS and Crossover Apps.

Yes, got this reply on 23 October 2017. that they are aware of the issue and develoer working on it.
=============================
Dear Geoff,
 Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, the Family Tree Builder is not compatible yet with the new macOS High Sierra. The development team is currently testing a new version of the Family Tree Builder that should be compatible with the macOS High Sierra.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we will update you once the new version will be available so you can download the Family Tree Builder.

In the meantime, I would recommend you to continue working on the online website for now.

Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this matter.

Best regards,
Eden

I got a similar response and on the 14th Decmber the following:

"I estimate that a beta version will be released in the next two weeks"

Given the holidays that should mean sometime early in the New Year, I hope

Hi Gerald, you have twice in this message stream recommended we contact support. I have done so as have several others. Do they reply at all? Its been 8 days since I emailed and no response. This is pretty slow as in my experience it usually takes 3 to 5 working days for a company to reply. What can we expect?

If its a High Sierra problem, what is the point in asking for screenshots of an app that does not open?

All developers had access to High Sierra beta for six months and the new version of Crossover which is compatible with HS is available. Furthermore MH promised a native FTB in march 2016

MyHeritage, shame on you. You have now lost me to Ancestry. Their new team at MacKiev is doing great
