I started using Myheritage Builder today after having neglected it for over a year. I almost immediately ran into a rather big problem: whenever I edit a person, the name-fields are empty. The header will display the correct, full name.
As soon as I start entering text in the empty fields, the header information for this person changes to whatever I fill in, thereby deleting everything I filled in last year.
If I enter the full name as shown in the header in the text-fields, it works like it should: editing this person again will show all name fields filled with the correct text.
This is a big problem for me, I can not go through all my persons and enter the full name information again.
Computer: Windows 10 Home version 1703 (Dutch). Myheritage Family Tree Builder version 8.0.0.8397. Apart from the WIndows updates nothing has changed to my setup.
I also noticed something else: I can not use Family Tree builder full screen. On my 1680x1050 screen, the window will not go full screen, but seems to be limited to around 1400x800.
Language setting did the trick. My display language has always been English. I did not even know there was a "Data language" setting. I changed this to "Dutch" and now I see the text when I edit a person. Weird (because it has never been a problem before), but it works now.
Full screen: I have two monitors with different resolutions: 1920x1200 and 1680x1050. I disabled the large monitor and FTB would now go full screen on the smaller one. Enabled the larger monitor: FTB will still not display full screen on the larger monitor, but will display full screen on the smaller one. Looks like FTB has a maximum resolution of 1680x1050.... Not ideal but good enough. Weird: I have not changed the setup of my computer and I am sure FTB displayed full screen on both monitors a year ago.
Version: I checked for upgrades, I have the latest version installed which is: 8.0.0.8397. Please tell me where I can find the 8404 version.
Tipp: Take care about the languge settings. Especially, when You are using the dual language function in the FTB. I made a couple of month ago an extensive investigation for another user here in the forum.
The usage of the correct screen resolution isn't a problem of the FTB. It is more a problem (or a feature .. depends on the point of view) of the 'Team' Windows, display adapter, display driver. I'm running a dual monitor configuration, too. But both monitors supporting the same resolution. If You are using different resolution models, then an application with the full screen feature takes the lower resolution as the parameter. I think I've read something about this years ago.
The last version of the FTB You can find on the Website under Apps. The new version check isn't helpful, because the development version handling only use the base version and then build numbers.
Thanks for the info, it is clear to me know. I haven't had to do anything to the language settings before, so I am a bit stumped as to why this is suddenly a problem. But it is working now, I will keep an eye on my data.
Resolution: sounds right, but this is still something that I see with FTB only. I use many more applications and they work full screen no matter which screen I put them on. However, it is not a major problem.
I'll have a look at the language settings and will report back.
On my PC, full screen does not work. I have a dual monitor set up and no matter which monitor I use, it will only get to around 80% of maximum resolution. I will experiment a little more by switching to a one-monitor setup. Who knows.
And I updated FTB an hour before I wrote this post.
