Printing a Book

The idea of being able to print a book is fantastic but.... After I created a book from my Tree I was a bit disappointed. The Book has all the potential of being a real great book. While creating my family tree I took great care to insert photos that I had. My father in a WWII uniform and such. My Heritage gives you opportunities to add photos. But when I saw the book that was created the only photos that were in the book were head shots. Then I realized that the photos I took great care in inserting in my tree were only visible to someone who created that tree. I am I missing something or was my inserting all these photos a waste of time. The book that My Heritage creates for you would be #1 if it printed "all" of your photos that are really in a person's tree.

Thank you

Hi,

I'm not sure, if I got the problem right. In the profile view for example you can click on the profile photo and choose the image section that you want to be shown as profile picture. Is that of any help?

Kind regards,

Guess I did not explain my problem well.

When I go to my profile page and click on "Edit Proflie" on the bottom of my choices it says "All My Facts". When I click on that it takes me to "All My Facts" and there are all the photos I posted pertaining to that subject. Yet this is the only place that I can see them in the catogory they are suppposed to be. Why would you be allowed to post photos if that's the only place you can see them. If they let the photos be copied in thier Book that would be fantastic.

Thanks

I, too, wanted all of the photos included in the Book Report (not just the profile photo) and here is what I discovered.  The basic Book Report only includes the profile photo.  In order to get all the photos you can upgrade to the paid version by clicking on the Learn More button when you open the Book Report box.

Best wishes, Anne

Sounds good but.....I could not find any button to find a "upgrade to a paid version" then to lead me to "Learn More". Why would they make it that difficult to find. I would not have any problem for paying for a Book if I could a least see what I would be buying. Could you please lead me the the upgrade section. All I can find is go to Premium Membership.

Thanks

I should have given a more full explanation.  You do this on the Family Tree Builder, not your online site. Click the Reports button on the menu bar and then Book Report.  The Book Report window opens and there you will find the "Learn More" button that sends you to the upgrade page.  I think this is available without a Premium Membership, but I am not sure.  I looked up the features listed for subscriptions and Book Report does not appear to be an added feature.  Hope this helps.

Anne thanks your suggestions are great but.....when you say "you do this on Family Tree Builder not your online site". Every time I click on MyHeritage it takes me to my site. How do I get just to Family Tree Builder?

Thanks

Anne I did everything as suggested. But it still does not give me a preview of what my Book would look like with all of my photos included. As I mentioned earlier I would not mind paying them for making my Book but I would like to see what it would look like before I pay. It also seems odd to let you download all of your photos to a site in which no one would be able to see them in thier proper context.

Thank you for your time.

It would be great to see a preview before committing to the upgrade, but, unfortunately, that is not the case.  The format of the paid version of the Book is the same as the basic one.  The profile picture is shown with the person (as in the basic version) in the body of the book.  Then there is an additional media section with all the photos with titles and reference numbers to the individual.  In other words, the extra photos don't show next to the profile photo.  I would like to see all the pictures associated with a person grouped along with the profile but, at least, this is the way to include all the photos.

Family Tree Builder (FTB) is the software program you download to your computer.  Here is a link for information about the difference between the FTB and the online site.  Within this link is another link for the download.  Hope this is helpful!

It is helpful thanks. But I just don't understand why they make it so difficult. I would not mind paying for a book with all of my Family's Tree photos in it. You would think that the suits that run this company would make it easier to do this.

Thanks again

Good luck with that, Bob. This is a complex and (in my humble  opinion) unnecessarily  & inexplicably complicated site that often defies logic in how it does things. I'm at j.hb2@xtra.co.nz if you want my story of how I generated a book a few years back. And why I'm still subscribing.. regards, John
