I was with Ancestry for about 17 years and it seemed like they never updated the Maryland area. Before I join for a year I would like to know from the forum if there is a decent amount of information from the Batlimore/Maryland area and if My Heritage has Old Year books on the website.
Thank you! Any information is very much appreciated.
I'm enter descriptions on each person in english and russian languages, and i want if someone use russian laguage it will see russian desctiption , otherwise - english. But I always see only russian :(
I mailed my kit on 02/06/2017. It is now day 20 and there is no record of their lab having received my test tube vials. In hindsight I wish I had sent my kit via Registered Mail because now I have no proof of the date they received my kit. This sucks. What is the average time frame that people receive DNA results? Because it certainly is not four to six weeks! Grr.
Wondering why I don't get the same "Relationship to site manager" information on my side when I check Smart Matches. I can see what the relationship of the matched person is to the site manager on the matching tree, but cannot see it on mine. Anybody know why?
I have a question for other MH users. I consider my mother's mother and father as my grandparents, and their children (my mother's siblings) as aunts and uncles. But, what if my grandmother dies, and my grandfather re-marries and has a family with another woman who is not biologically related to me? Those children would be my mother's half siblings, but what would be their relationship to me? I have never heard the term "half uncle" or "half aunt". I would think that my grandfather's children would be my uncles and aunts, but their connection to me is only through him and not his new spouse. Just wondering what other people do in this type of situation as far as acknowledging the relationship on MH. Thoughts, anyone?
How does one go about having their information removed from search results?
You've allowed my name, the city I live in, and my AGE to be freely and easily availble online. You shouldn't talk about how much you care about privacy, when you are obviously more than okay with giving people's information away for free to make a quick buck. When age discrimination runs rampant in our country, you shouldn't be making such information freely or easily available.
Anyone who would use your service should be careful because your advertising practices cearly show that you can't and shouldn't be trusted with any additional information.
I am surprised there isn't a specific forum for the DNA test.
I was excited when I got my DNA results back but I'm a little underwhelmed at the results and what I can do with them. At the bottom of the screen it states "Explore more about your DNA with our partner FTDNA"
Are you telling me I have to pay for yet another service (I'm already paying annual subscription for MyHeritage PLUS paid for my DNA test) to help figure out my DNA matches? Has anyone done this? What are the advantages?
I have just received my DNA results and was very surprised to see no German Ancestry. In fact all my ancestors that I know about are right in the middle of the white area outside any of the circles :) I was born in Germany and so were my parents, grandparents and great grandparents. Researching back to the 1700's I have not yet come across any anestors NOT born in Germany.
My results show almost 45% Scandinavian, about 28% Italian (probably going back to the Roman Invasion) 15.4% British/Irish and 12.1% East European. So far all ancestors I have found have been in the far western half of Germany.
Could this be due to restrictions on DNA testing in Germany meaning not enough German DNA avaialbe for comparison?
Would be very interested to find out what others have found re this.
Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help. I have noticed that quite a lot of people in my family tree are appearing multiple times. It seems that when I confirm a match, people have come up as a new person, just because the match I confirmed has a relative spelt slightly different. I have been trying to remove some of these extra people but don't know how many times it has happened.
Your customer service is the weakest service I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
I sent my DNA tests in over two weeks ago, and they haven't been accepted as received by your lab. Which wouldn't be a big deal if it were a USPS issue, but I am starting to think it's not. I have attempted contact with customer service MULTIPLE times and cannot get a response.
I would like a refund ASAP and expect to be contacted within the next 24 hours.
I have inadvertently separated my tree into two disconnected tress and I need to re-attach them. Even though the two trees have several identical nodes the program does not help me sew them up, and I can't find a reference for this in the FAQ, etc.
