I uploaded a gedcom to My Heritage from my public tree on Ancestry assuming living people would be hidden as they are on Ancestry. This does not appear to be the case but I can't tell. I do not want to be responsiible for other living people in my tree having their personal info out there.
How can I know for sure what others see? Taking my tree down for now.
I don't suppose I am the first to ask this "question", but I'm not going to go through all the FAQs to find others.
I could ask a question, which would be: My Heritage, can you please stop sending me the same Discoveries over and over again and patting yourselves on the back for a wonderful job well done.
Yes, I know it is automatic computers who send out the Discoveries rather than real people. It might be better if it was people who could assess whether I had had the information before or not. The compuyrers don't seem to know.
You send me something that has been added to another family tree, and if I should foolishly add the details to mine the computer sendsthat fact and those details to all the other people working on the same details in their trees. Then - guess what - the robotic computers send me some new Discoveries - just added to such and such a website.
It's going round and round in circles all the time. I don' have time for doig the same task over and over again!
I have ticked the box for no more Discoveries to be sent.
And, oh yes, please don't renew my subscription when my first - and last - one expries in January!!
How is it possible that some one can take my entire familytree which I did quite some research on and then add their name as manager of it all? Below is proof of this my entire research was copied and is managed by some one else who is not me. How is this possible???
I have been doing my trees since the '60s. My searches have been long and hard, so I will stick with what I've found. A large number are from England, however, no mention of that. I was very sick yesterday wondering about my parents; what a horrible thing you have done to my mind. You will never know. 33% Scandivan.....I will never belive your results. Thankfully I found your blog site. It has helped me to greatly believe you DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Thank you bloggers. I will also be telling people do not use MyHeritage for anything.
to start off this is my moms account that im using, just felt the need to say that. i am 32 and i was adopted and have been looking for answers to who i am my entire life. i had taken my first DNA test with AncestryDNA back in January and these are the results:
then a couple months later my mom, stepdad and i decided to try out MyHeritage. these were my original results (beta 0.9):
i know that your results will vary with different companies but i was surprised to see African and Papua New Guinea show up. i wanted to be excited about this new development but im also extremely confused how Ancestry and MyHeritage could be so different.
then MyHeritage came out with a new beta (beta 0.95) and after that new update my results from MyHeritage completely changed. here is the first change MyHeritage made to my results after the new beta:
no more African/Oceania but then they added on the Scandinavian and Iberian from the AncestryDna test. once again im completely confused.
and THEN i checked my results a few days ago and MyHeritage changed my results AGAIN. nothing major but some slight changes:
im just wondering if anyone could explain all the changes, both major and minor changes to my results. im also aware that MYHeritages database is getting bigger and adding more countries and stuff but im just really confused how i went from havng some African/Oceania in then back to 100% European again. im adopted so i dont have ny family members that i could ask. its just frustrating to have be on this journey of finding myself for 3 decades just to be even more confused than i was before i had taken any test
I exported a GEDCOM from MH, but when I loaded it into MacFamilyTree, I got a ton of error messages, which seemed to be related to Sources. Then it appears that NO sources got transferred over. [I've also written to the MFT people about this problem.]
I have fraternal twin daughters, their DNA is almost identical. However compared to myself and husband, some of their percentages are greater in certain regions than their parents. Here's some examples:
Kids 15% English, 7.6% Irish, Scottish, Welsh
Father 0% Englsih, 1.7% Irish, Scottish, Welsh
Mother 5.6% English, 0% Irish, Scottish, Welsh
How do the kids get more percentages than parents? My mother (kids maternal grandmother) has strong history of English and Scottish origins, does DNA expression skip generations?
Does some DNA not get passed on? On both MyHeritage and Ancestry I have a lot of Western European ancestry (49.5%, 59%) yet on MyHeritage kids have 0% and Ancestry shows only 3% west European.
Lastly, I know this is minor, but kids show 4.8%, 4.9% North African heritage - parents are 0%. My husband has 7.2% Middle Eastern ancestry, it appears the regions of north Africa and middle east overlap, may that explain the North African?
Ok so i found information on my dad whom i never knew and maybe met once . My question is .. How can i find out if this deadbeat dad may have left something behind without running into all of these scam sites?
So I'm new here and to the program, so I don't know if this is the right place to bring my problem. However, I'm going to state it here just in case I do get a helpful answer.
My problem is this: I have all the relationships status correct on my computer and online tree, yet, whenever I print out the tree on a hard copy, the divorce status show up on the wrong people. My relatives that are still married are supposedly divorce and vice versa. Is there a way to fix this so I won't have to write on the final hard copy?
Hi, I joined Myheritage just the other day and uploaded 5 dna kits from AncestryDNA. They are all listed on one page. They all say "ready" but I can only view matches for my own kit. Does anyone know why or what I can do to fix this?
How can I contact a Geni web member withou subscribing to a membership ? My great grandmother is listed incorrectly (spelled with one wrong letter) on a Geni site and will not be able to be used as a good "match". I believe I have more info to add: and another MH member has a good match with my great grandmother as well.
Can someone help me out ? (Baba ?? ) Thanks in advance.
Hello, I've ordered 3 DNA kits for 3 different people (each with their own MyHeritage account.) but now I see that they are all tied with my account. Will I be able to transfer the results to their accounts? Or better, transfer it right now, so it is tied with their account and they could track and manage it? Or it is all impossible, I can associate it only with people in my tree and I should have checked this before?
Hello, I have complete membership. I paid it for the account of my mothers family site, where I am member. But now when I have a DNA match and click to see the tree of the member I have match with, it doesnt take me to his tree, but shows me the payment page with membership offers, only it says that there is no need to buy anything and then nothing. The trees of the members I want to see are public, so this is not the problem. What should I do?
