Here to pick everyones brains. I am confused about 2 of my results. Attached are my results (first) then my fathers (second) and mothers (last). I have 17% greek DNA whereas my father has only 1.1% and my mother has none! Is there an explanation to this? Did it somehow skip a generation or something?? lol Also I have south asian genes which isnt evident in my parents results. Thanks!
It seems like it is taking awhile for any tracking information to appear on my kit. Is this a common issue? I went with myHeritage after some research because they were the best priced and seemed to have a quick turn around time.
I received a DNA match which suggests that the match coulld be a second or third cousin (see attached chart). As it turns out, this cousin is my 4th cousin once removed, which was not even identified as a possibility on the chart. However, it turns out that we are related through 6 of our 64 3rd great-grandparents, and not just via one common ancestor. We are also 5th cousins through 6 other of our 128 4th great-grandparents. Would the existence of a lot of common ancestors (each providing DNA segments) influence/confound the "Estimated Relationship" chart resulting in the latter suggesting a closer relationship than truly exists?
I uploaded data on May 4, 2018 and was told 1-2 days. It is now May 10, 2018. Can you advise when the data will be parsed more accurately? I don't have an issue waiting but would like a realistic estimate to ethnicity estimates and DNA matches. I would be potentially interested in premium services but would like to see this handled in a timely manner first as promised. The data was from 23andMe which you advised was possible to upload.
I jumped the gun in uploading DNA Raw Data for a relative. After uploading the raw data I wanted to link it to the person in my family tree to whom it belongs, however it seems I actually needed to upload the data to her particular profile instead of uploading it as a new individual.
I am now unable to link the DNA to her profile so her matches won't be able to see a family tree for her. Is anybody able to tell me how to link this DNA kit to her profile?
Hello. By scrolling through many pages I have wasted most of the day looking for DNA matches which I have seen in the past - and I still can't find them! Is there a simple way of performing this exvercise?
For years, I am 53, we have been told there's Czech and German from my mothers side. Englsh and Italian from fathers. Results were
100% North and West Europe. I see the German but nothing else. My question is, have we been lied to and are our parents perpetuating it? Or are the results wrong? I was expecting some small percent of an unknown but there wasn't. Any answers to ease my mind?
Hi, I just got my results back from my MyHeritage DNA test: As far as I know I’m Korean but my results returned as Japanese, Chinese-Vietnamese and Mongolian. I’m not saying that those results are wrong per se but I just saw in the FAQ’s that Korean ethnicity isn’t support by MyHeritage so I’m not sure what to make of my results. For example:
Is my Korean background just being bunched up with Japanese?
I started building my tree in the Family Tree Builder. I later "uploaded" that data in Tree Builder to MyHeritage Family tree. So far so good. Then I had the following steps occur:
1. The Family Tree software identified other tree members that were mine, so I accepted them and the software merged them. So now my Tree in Family Tree My Heritage is larger than the tree in Family Tree Builder. I can't figure out how to send that new data down to Family Tree Builder from Family tree. "Syncing" doesn't seem to do anything.
2. Then conversely, I added some new tree members in the Family Tree Builder, but again when I tell it to "Sync" those new individuals in Tree Builder, it does not transfer that new info to larger tree in Family Tree.
3. I don't know if I upload from the smaller tree in Builder (that now has some recently added info) will that wipe out the family information I accepted and merged back in Step 1?
Put another way, when I have family members in MyHeritage Family Tree site varies from what's in Tree Builder I'm not understanding how to get them to match up.
i had an instruction in English that came with the kit on how to use it, I also haf instructions in Swedish on the website. For whatever reason those were the ones I followed while doing the test. Turns out it was fairly badly translated. It said something that could be translated to ”rotate the swamb on one of cheeks for 30-60 seconds”. So I did. However in the English intructions it asked me to move the swamb around and rather ”scrap”. I kept the swamb in the same position while rotating it lightly pushed to my cheek for about 45 seconds. Will this affect the result and how if so? Is it required to cover several areas of the cheek (i do have from both cheeks ofc) and would I need to push it harder against the cheek? Thanks.
After the results were taking a long time I checked thier status and found the message "Processing your kit is taking longer than expected. This usually happens in cases where there is a kit activation problem, processing the first of the two vials has failed, or there was some other error." So do I do now? Do I wait longer? Do I have to do the test again?
I am completing a graphic of a part of my family and each label of each person together with the photo and its name appears the word "UNKNOWN" and I can not find the way to make it disappear. Can you help me?
I have just been to the uk post office to send my samples off. I was informed that they are prohibited from sending 'specimen samples', and i was refused help. I purchased a first class stamp not knowing what to do and have posted this. Now i am aware that my samples will now not arrive in the states and i have now lost my samples. So you have ripped me off by £99, you couldnt even do a prepaid envelope??? I am infuriated. I would like my money back, and i will spend my money with a uk based DNA service.
