It would be great if you could turn off record and smart matches for certain people. Especially record matches! I have two people that are in over 300 newspapers and they are even a direct blood line... very tedius to go in and wade through and reject so I can get to the "good" stuff.
There is a reason that the "Save" and "Save as" features have been removed.
Family Tree Builder 8.0 delivers improved data integrity. This means that changes are now saved immediately and seamlessly upon making them, with no need to click on the "Save" button anymore. The chances of data loss while working on your family tree are now extremely small.
Trusting this has proven useful information to you.
Anyone designing database software should first review the Structured Query Language (SQL) standards and should give deep thought to the COMIT WORK and ROLLBACK WORK statements and to the circumstances of real world DB processing that dictate their need.
Well, you are assuming too much. There are times when I am making changes or trying functions that I don't want to save. Now you force me to back out changes, and I may not be able to do that. I believe you have creatred a dangerous situation.
What I do is attach a source image, which is a photograph of a record from a book. The record is usually difficult to read and in another language, so I provide a transcription and a translation in the description box. To make this legible I use line breaks similar to the original text and also additional line breaks between the different language versions. There is often very poor punctuation in the transcription because no punctuation existed in the original text - they used line breaks too. However, these line breaks are removed by MyHeritage making the whole thing very difficult to read.
I would advize you to contact the support team from your MyHeritage registered email address and outline the problem you are having. Also if you can provide examples within your email this will assit the agent with their service to you.
In FTB, when right-clicking on a person and selecting "relation" to open the relationship calculator, the result is in text. For example :
A is the daughter of B
B is the sister of C
C is the husband of D
D is the brother of E
E is the father of F
and so on. While this is useful in some ways, it is not easy to see whether A and F are what I would call "close" or "distant" relatives - whether they are actually blood relatives or related by marriage. I would really appreciate an option to show the relationship graphically. Names would not be important (though some users might prefer them), so something like dots joined by lines, where a single dotted horizontal line is a marriage, a solid horizontal line a sibling, and vertical lines show descendents/amcestors. The above would look sonething like (forgive the poor representation, as I am limited to typed characters):
I inserted the letters for clarity, but all I am asking for are dots to represent the people. maybe pink and blue to indicate sex. Looking at this digram, I can see MUCH quicker that A's parent's sibling's spouse's sibling's child is F, than I could in the text format. I can also quickly see that A and F are related by marriage, not blood.
Given that your program has already calulated the information in text, converting it to the diagram should be easily programmed.
You could widen the realtionship calculator window and add the diagram to one side of the text/memo box.
What it is doing is that it is disallowing any query to be posted on the site. It just displays a loading message and nothing happens...
Your older method of contacting customer support was functional and response was also good.
I wanted to find out how to nest a photo album into another album. For example, I make a grandparent album, under it make parent albums and under them albums forall the children. Automatically all photos would get loadedin thecorrect place.
I am unable to find out how to nest an album within another. Something akin to a tree structured directory/folders
Please guide me how to do it,
And in case the faciliy is not there, please buildit in.
Not just occupations - there are a whole lot of database fiields that do not appear merge when smart-matched, in fact, it seems that most do not. Surely, when merging, ALL fields in the match should be available for comparison and copy?
I note that your website for FTB still advertises smart match technology, even though this no longer works properly in version 8.0. I have just downloaded build 8225, and clicking on the green circle on a person's tab gets me a statement that there are "35 smart matches" for a person I recently added to my tree, but none of the matches show up, even after clicking "update now". However clicking on some people, that I have previously confirmed matches for, sometimes does show the matches. FTB has a bug!
There are instances where you see the Smart Match indicator but when you go to check the matches there are none.
The reason is due to a lag in processing Smart Matches.
When you type the information into your tree, we check to see if there are matches "ad-hoc" or "on the fly".
If there is a match, the green icon appears to indicate we've found a preliminary match.
The actual matches usually take a few days to be processed, so if you go to check your matches right away you won't see any, but ideally you should get matches within 2-3 days, and with large trees 1000 persons, it may take 4-5 days.
No, it has not helped. You miss the point. I click on the green indicator, and go to the smart match page. I get a message at the top of the window saying "Retrieving smart matches for <whoever>". A few seconds later I get "There are <xx> Smart Matches for <whoever>" but THEY DO NOT DISPLAY in the bottom of the window. Pressing the "Update Now" button just repeats the whole process, but they still do not display.
I have attached a pdf with a screen shot showing what I mean. On the attached file shot, there was a "Show the additional 7 Smart Matches" option, and when I clicked that, then the 7 additional matches appeared, but not the other 9. However, that option does not appear with many of the smart match pages - for example, I have an ancestor with 35 matches, but none show, and there are no options to select (ncluding no "Change Smart Match options").
I have looked through the options, and do not find one for not showing previously confirmed options - that may be the cause - is there one? But I don't think that is the problem, as one of the 7 additional matches in the example has been previously confirmed.
From your reply, are you saying that we have to click on the green icon, and then wait a few days for the matches to come through? The ones I am complaining about are people I have had on the tree for a couple of years, and have previously seen smart matches for (using version 7 of FTB, not version 8) but I did not work through all of them.
Thank you for your detailed reply and the Pdf you kindly provided.
I have now pushed your family tree closer to the front of the generation queue and I would like for you to now go back and click on the update button and let me know if this has helped resolve the issue for you.
