I have ggggg grandparents who are second cousins. I would like to see a nice chart which graphs the connections the way you would do it yourself, manually. I understand, in a gut sort of way, why the various software programs choke on this, but I thought surely there must be some program that could draw the simple diagram.
In Family View with Ancestry.com, the software cannot handle the problem, or rather it handles it by forcing me to make a choice when trying to navigate up the chart from those ggggg grandparents. If I choose the husband, the chart will correctly lead to their great grandparents, who will be shown in two well-behaved rectangles, or if I choose the wife it can expand to the same two person nodes, but it cannot let me see both sets of connecting relationships at the same time.
I know, I know, this is a MyHeritage support forum, not an Ancestry support forum. I have only started with the explanation/descripition as seen in Ancestry because that is the source of the gedcom structure. I had really, really hoped that when imported into MyHeritage, the"Close Family Report" would know how to draw the combined, simplified chart, but, alas, it solves the problem by duplicating the great grandparents, presenting four rectangles at the top level of display, with complete redudancy of information.
As horrid as it seems, it looks like the only way to solve this problem -- I've tried numerous other tools -- would be to take the PDF into Photoshop as a JPEG, make two layers, and use their panorama merge software to overly the top layer with the correct, simplified rectangles representing the top level of the chart.
Please tell me there is an eaiser, saner solution.
I am not able to change the color of the font of Names in Charts Options. I am able to change the font, its size and color for Title and Fact sheet. I can also change font and font size of Names but not the color of font. Is there a problem with my Family Tree Builder?
The color of font of Names in the sample box is displayed correctly but the color of Names on Chart remains black.
There appears to be a problem in the Descendant Summary Report in FTB (latest version). If you have the option turned on to indicate divorces, all married couples are shown to have been divorced the same year that they were married - even if still married. In other words, all married couples are divorced! This makes the report useless with this option turned on.
I am running FTB 188.8.131.5233 on a 32-bit WEindows 7 system. I generated a descendant tree (244 persons), anmd it looks fine. When I try to save it to a PDF (either in high resolution or high resolution), the resulting PDF file has the head icons in the wrong places; they are not in the upper right corner of each person box. I generated a JPEG file, and it looks OK. Is there anything I can do to get a good PDF file? Thnksa.
When creating an ancestor report, I consistently get a bug that gives incorrect spacing between the words.
For examlpe, I cut-and-pasted this from the report :
Anne Agate [Martin] was born in 1935 in Hastings,
which looks fine here, but in the original the space after martin] does not appear to be there.
I think the problem is in the spacing of the bold font - in some places in the report, whole words get overwritten. I would change the size of the font, but the "report options" menu item is greyed out and inactive). I am using FTB version 184.108.40.20633
I have attached a jpeg, so you can see that I am not imagining it. Note also the wrong spacing next to person 14 after 'married'.
Note also that the "untitled" attachment below is getting copied whenever I edit the post to correct spelling or add some words.
I print the Descendants report and look up on various sources and key my info from that. Since Update now will not print anything I type in second screen (facts). Can only key info in Places field to print. On old version Fact Notes would not always print, so leery of using that. although they appear to print now. I think if Places info too long, it lost or did not print, but seems to be all I can use now. Have large family, lots of info - 160 pages. Now I have to go move all the fields to places. Anyone else have this problem? Where do you key all your stories, extended info and get it all printed? I need tp keep a printed copy in case infor lost, I can re key, but so much info to constantly be proofing. Will call tech in the morning.
Is there a way to run a report to find similar data points in ancestros profiles? For example, I'd like to see a list of everyone who was born and dieed between X dates, and be able to refine that by Y area. Or everyone who is listed as buried at X cemetary. If that's not possible, is there a way to extract the profile information into an Excel format so I can process there?
I have been using MyHeritage for about two weeks now, have been having a blast with it. Had a bit of a jump on things since I had some material provided in hard copy that I transfered into electronic format and once I got use to the interface things started clicking along nicely.
Along the way I generated a couple of small charts to see what they looked like. That was about a week and a half ago when I was about 300 people.
Earlier this weekend I attempted to generate a chart and this is the steps that I took:
Option 1 - I have tried All-in-One & Sun Chart
Option 2 - Style 10 and Style 11
Option 3 - Main Person: Myself with my Spouse
Title: Our Family Tree
Facts for Individuals: Dates of Birth and death
Generations: Show all generations
Printing method: Mutiple pages with the options Prevent boxes from crossing page boundries selected and paper size set for letter set
After a about an hour or so the system finally spits out:
Please generate the chart again
This has happened several times. I expected it to take a bit to generated with over 1200 people but I don't expect it to crash, I am sure there are others who have generated trees much larger than what I have gotten so far and this is not even half of what I have to input, I have a 30 page document listing the generations for my mother's side that was prepared off the LDS database arriving later this week and expect the tree to double if not quadruple within the next two weeks.
When all is said and done I expect to be able to generate and order complete charts for the heads of the various families. How can this be accomplished if your system keeps biting the dust every time I attempt to generate a chart?
