Searching for any information about John and Dorthy Watetstradt that lived in danville illinois in vermillion county starting around 1868.

1840 and d.1907. Dorthy(born huckstadt) b.1846 and d.1931.
They were both born in germany and their first child Lena(prast)waterstradt was born in germany around 1863 and in morgansdorf. I have been interested and I hope there are people around that know these facts. I have always wondered what my great grandparents may have looked like.

My grandfather, Edward DAMS left Prussia/Poland about 1904 and emigrated to Canada. We have been told he did not want to "run the family hotel." In Canada he married Marguerite Decker b. 1879 from Mondorf-Les-Bains, Luxembourg.
According to Edward's birth certificate and baptismal record (translated from Russian) he was born in Wielki Piatek, Stawiszyn, Poland on April 5, 1881 to the parents of Ferdinand Dams and Henrietta Kubisch.
We have a hand written note (about 1911 or later) by Ferdinand Dams b. 1843 (Edward's father) with a return address Sorau N/L, Lugeberge, Deutschland (present day Zary, Lubuskie, Poland) written to Canadian family members. I don't know if Sorau was a permanent address after Wielki Piatek. I don't know where Ferdinand Dams died.
I was told in 1994 by Edward's daugher, that the family hotel was located in Langendorf but was now called Langen.
My family line is: Hotel owner, great grandfather, Ferdinand Dams (b. 1843), then my grandfather, Edward Dams (b. 1881), then my father, Ferdinand Edward Dams (b. 1907) then to me, Doris Peters.
If anyone has information about the DAMS' Family Hotel and would like to share it, please contact me, Doris Dams Peters, at firstname.lastname@example.org. I thank you for any information you may be able to provide.
I have an important family video that has ended up on Google photos. I would now like to add it to an individual on My Heritage but does anyone know how to accomplish this? I usually save these files to desktop and do it from there, but these don't seem to work in that fashion..?

I have just found out that my ggg grandfather's wedding announcement says he was engaged 7yrs. Marriage 1812 so he waited since 1805.... This was the beginning of the Napoleonic Wars. Is there any way I can find out whether or not he served in the military? Here's hoping
First, I use MyHeritage for 3 weeks and I like it a lot, especiaally thier superb simple interface (there is no stupid icons, but WORDS).
It seems however that MyHer. gets the matches using existing personal trees without checking what they offer. I got
the match of Helmold II von Luneborg /Tuvi Palnissun and offered as new information the name of his wife, Sophia von Pleskau.
But she was already in my tree as the wife of Theodoricus De Ropa and that info I got from MyHeritage and Geni.com.
The opinions of who's wife is she are different, as well as the info who was their son (WOldemat von Rosen or Waldemar von Rosen - 2 different people). If anyone has some solid knowledge about this matter I will love to hear it.
The most common mistake in census records, the spelling of names, keeps the Anton Geppert family incognito. In this case the census taker spelled the head of household surname “Keppart”and the first name “Antone”. Most likely the census taker wrote down the names of the head of household based on what he heard said. Now I know the spelling errors, and my citation will note the same for the person in question. Anyone reading our Geppert family tree branch in the future and looking at my research would know what I had found and why. Census records are a source for primary citations. Census records are great for finding facts about your people and, helping to confirm information found in other sources. What if anything can I do within My Heritage to aid the next person searching the Illinois US census 1870 for the Anton Geppert family? Pete
