I have noticed that, quite frequently and for no obvious reason, ramdom family profile photos disapear from the tree. They are still in the main album but vanish from the profile picture holder.
I don't use Microsoft Windows but have a Windows partition on my hard drive which I use once a year to file my income taxes. In July 2017 I became a paid member of MyHeritage. I booted into my Windows partition and installed Family Tree Builder. I loaded my GEDCOM file into the software and uploaded it to MyHeritage.
But since I never boot into Windows, I spent the next nine months adding over 1000 new entries into my family tree from the web interface on myheritage.com. In addition, I added many new facts and corrected many others.
Last week I had to boot into Windows in order to file my income tax return. While in Windows I thought it would be a good idea to update my Family Tree Builder data with all the new information I had added on MyHeritage. So I proceeded to use the Family Tree Builder "sync" feature.
Then I received a shock: The Family Tree Builder "sync" feature did not synchronize my Family Tree Builder data with my MyHeritage date--it obliterated my MyHeritage data, replacing it with my original GEDCOM.
Nine months of research was destroyed.
When I contacted MyHeritage for help I was told that I must have chosen "upload" instead of "sync. " In other words, their response was "You're an idiot." They also claimed that when using the "sync" process of Family Tree Builder the data on MyHeritage takes precedence over the Family Tree Builder data. But if that is true, why was my experience exactly the opposite?
The lack of concern shown by MyHeritage in this personal disaster is disheartening, to say the least, and unless this can be fixed, I will not be renewing my membership when my year is up.
Hi all, I have two things... first, I've just loaded the free version of the Tree builder, (v8.0.0.8453), and I'm liking the facilities it's got so far, but, it's so slow!!! I'm getting 'not responding' messages every time I submit a change, and it's driving me crazy already. I'm running a win 10 64 bit laptop, and I think it's only 32 bit software. Does anyone know if this could be the problem?
I tried to phone the caring customer reps for some comprehensive, personal assistance, but I'm barred because I'm not subscribed.
To be honest, I'm finding it less likely that I'm going to subscribe if I can't get the thing to do anything for ten minutes at a time, and can't get access to the support I need to make it run.
Anyway, if anyone is able to suggest a fix, I'd be grateful.
Secondly, I want to add a 'mother to a child' rather than a spouse on my family tree... it's for a child of a couple who never married, and split before the childs birth, so not partners, nor spouse, nor divorced or anything like that. But, trying to add both parents to the tree, it forces me to make them spouses. I don't think this is an unusual situation in this age, and I find it frustrating that I can't seem to record the facts as they are. Unless anyone here knows a way? Again, I was told that customer support is not available for me from My Heritage.
I recently decided to build a family tree and both my mother and father have a common ancestor after 8 generations, is it possible to link the same person on both sides of the tree?
I find this just too buggy and unpredictable to be of use. Branches disappear and when you add another (son for example) the missing branch areppears. when you delete the newly created person, the whole branch disappears again.
It really is quite useles and wasteful in both time and energy,
I know MH does not provide such a tool, but gives a manual method for doing this.
My question is whether any enterprising MHer (or other enlightened person) has created such a tool to wizard you through the procedure of merging dupliacte entries of one person? perhaps working from GEDCOM file(s)?
I have an existting database that, over time has accumulated quite a variety of horrors: duplicates, generation invresions (I am my father's father, etc...) It needs a clean up before I progress it.
Is there anywhere a clear practiical descripition of how to go about sorting out the messy bits in a project database. What to do, in what order, and how.
I hope someone from MyHeritage or someone else who's experienced this issue can help me.
I recently had my Tree Builder program crash and have been unable to save ever since i for Tree Builder so i re-imported my GEDCOM file.
When starting my first sync it asked do i want to Download from the site and get the most recent information i had made (which i said yes to) or the other option was to Upload what i had imported to the site. Now every time i try to sync between the Builder and the site, or try to visit the family site it seems to work fine until the last stage of the synchronizing, where it produces an error message "Sync has failed. reason is: Invalid Resquest". I have attached an image of the error message
This is concerning now because i cannot update both system to read the same, and frustrating that i cannot view new information. I have just paid for the Premium upgrade and now face this so would like it resolved asap.
hi i have a cousin who had a child out of wedlock. i was able to correctly represent the child in the tree but beside my cousins name autotmatically appears the spouse bubble, which reads "m. UNKNOWN" when published. how do i remove the "m.UNKNOWN" because this is a false representation of her relatinship. i tried changing the status hopfully to a blank one but there is no such option.
what id like to see would be my cousins name, her child and no indication of a partner/spouse.
I have persons who are divorced and then married someone new. The old and new spouses do not appear when in Tree display on the screen, only the old (first) spouse. But both spouses do appear on Charts. How can I get all of them to appear in Tree display?
I have a project that has photos for only some of the people in the project. I have a second project with many of the same poeple and photos of them that are not in the first project. When I copy these photos to the Photos subfolder for the first project and open FTB, the copied photos do not appear in the Photos tab. I've even tried copying entire Photos subfolder into the first project, but not luck.
How can I move photos around from project to project?
How are photos linked from the Photos subfolder to the people in the projects? It appears links are occasionally lost.
I'm looking to build a family tree that doesn't start with me. I have a family tree that I have been building on paper but would like to make a cleaner version digitally. I've tried to use the free software but it doesn't show the person whom I've typed the information in for. It shows that I've typed the information in before but the person doesn't show up in the separate tree I've created. How does one go about getting this paper info moved to digital?I would greatly appreciate the help.
How do I save the current file with another name? Ex from XXXr1 to XXXr2 ? Previously I used the "save as" function but its no longer there .
I guess I can close project xxxr1 , open new one and call it XXXr2 , then import the XXXR1 file. Seems a long winded way. Any suggestions for a faster way?
Just starting using this software. I have noticed when adding photos that some or showing up horizontal and not vertical. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this problem. The editor does not have an option on how to turn the photo to veritical. Any suggestions out there?
I'm having an issue with the 'places' section on the FTB program. I've tried fixing it several times but they keep coming back. This is just one example. In photo 1 you'll see 4 variants of Kallstadt, Germany; but in photo 2 (from the maps section) you'll only see 1.
I have the same problem with a few other locations that seem to come back everytime I sync the tree to the site.
