Can someone suggest a method to obtain a report of JUST the people in the tree who are MY 2nd cousins. Identifying them for the cousins and for my children is my mission. I can see that compiling the list from all these names is going to be onerous. Thanks for your help. Wish I'd started this sooner.
I tried exporting to Excel to sort but "relationship" is not a defined field since it depends on which two.
How does one extract information from another MyHeritage tree? When researching a person, I get a match in another MyHeritage tree and I save the record. When I then tell it to extract information to my tree I get a message that says "Coming soon: extract info from MyHeritage family tree individuals.". I can extract information from FamilySearch and other trees, but not from trees on my own paid for service. Please help, there is lots of information I would like to extract to my tree.
I'm facing a serious issue with dates synchronization. Every time I synchronize my tree, some (randomly selected) dates are stored as plain text on myheritage.com although they were not before the sync. Since I have ~2250 persons in my tree, it's not easy to find all of them to fix them.
I didn't use FTB for some time (a few months). Before it worked fine, without any problems, but now it doesn't want to open my Project. Actualy, it doesn't wan't to open the original Sample Project either and the message is to contact the MyHeritage Support (see attached pic).
Also, when I try to create a New Project, it seems OK, but there is nothing in the folders and that Project doesn't exist later.
Is there a way to compare the difference between 2 trees ? Ex I have a x.ged , then I modified to x1.ged. How can I check the changes I made to the original version or compare between the versions ? Tks
Whenever I try to add a new record via FTB, the record appears to be added, however the details i add to the record appears to be overwritten and the record inherits details from a records i created earlier in my tree.
The records being used to inherited details from appears to be cycling through the earlier records in my tree.
An example is:
I was focused on a person (ID 44) and tried to add their spouse. The record appears to create the next consecutive id number in the list (ie: ID No 360). I recorded the new persons, birth, death and marriage details. However when i try to open the new record (ID 360) from my records list, the details i recorded for their birth, death and marriage appears to have been overwritten and how displays the birth and death details from record ID 20.
If I then try to add a new record, like a child linked to record 44 andd 360, the new record appears to be created as 361. I recorded the child's birth date as well. However, when I reopened record 361 the birth details had been overwritten, and it now has the birth and death details of record id 21. The cylcing through the old records conditinues on each time i add a new record. Another weird thing, if i close down FTB and reopen it, the new records disappear.
I've tried, backing up the project, and restoring it with a new name, but that didn't work. The only way I can record details and not fear old records being cleared is to record the records via the website.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The exported gedcoms from both the FTB and MyHeritage website are non-standard!! I cannot import these gedcoms into another program, i.e. Legacy (which MyHeritage owns) and get all of my information into Legacy. Addresses, Phone numbers, Email, etc. are all ignored. I have spoken to the Legacy Support group and they say the problem is with FTB not exporting standard gedcom files. I paid good money for all of this and can't seem to get any help from MyHeritage. I have talked to their support group and received no satisfaction...all I ever get is "we are working on it".
If MyHeritage reads these forums, I hope someone their will read and understand my dilemma.
I am using Family Tree Builder 22.214.171.12463 on Windows 10, a 64-bit i-7-7700, 16GM RAM,over 500GB free on HD. My tree is large with over 77,000 records in 23488 families. I wish to export the complete tree to GEDCOM.
I get to the point where it should export and it gives me the error: "Project could not be exported to"
I have synced to the online site and I can export from there (haven't tested the output yet), so it might not be a critical issue, but seems to defeat the purpose of the local application.
Only recently I relented and upgraded to V8 but now I find Every 'Notes' page is duplicated. For instance where an individual's notes were on 2 pages they are now on 2x2= 4 pages
As I have around 4,000 names I dont want to edit and delete dups in every one although not every one will have notes but must open to ascertain which does, apart from that I currently cannot download the earlier backups from MyH. These would have some recent additions missing but lesser of two evils -
I am awaiting feedback from support but wonder if anyone else has had this problemand solved it?
I have since noticed that the duplicates are shown as Citation but I cannot see how to turn it off.
Support never did come back to me so I phoned again and this time a very helpful and patient Natalie talked me through 'File Restore' process on Family Tree Builder from a backed up file already unknowingly saved on my system as recovery from online backup failed to work - a known problem apparently!
Ok, I am a few recent names missing but no big problem and it took a while restoring the many photos. I then replaced the online version.
However, I still do not understand how te corruption occured and every person's notes became duplicated.
The answer may be to retain those backup files just in case!
I had a problem in my PC hard disk, and after recovering the system the FTB file went corrupted. When I try to import the project to Family Tree Builder I receive a message telling that is impossible to read the file. Is that possible to recover this file? I have around 7.000 persons on it, and I would lost a lot of time doing that researchs again. I would like to know is is there some way to restore this FTB file, even if I have to pay for that.
I exported a GEDCOM on June 22nd. and began a project in FTB. When I go to reporter NO images are exported . The imahges are on my computer and I can see head shots in the FTB. I have been chasing down this issue for days and as a last resort have sent in a request for help I DON'T HOLD OUT MUCH HOPE THAT ANYTHING WILL BE FORTHCOMING as no reponse has come for my otjher requests for support.
After receiving the email to change my passwords I went to the website and successfully changed my password. I then logged in to the Family Tree Builder and followed the directions given to change my password there. However, I keep getting the error message "Software is unable to communicate with MyHeritage . com please make sure your computer is connected to the internet." My computer is definitely connected to the internet there's no question on that. I am automatically logged in to the program when opening it (the Family Tree Builder) and there is no way to actually sign out. When following what we were given and I try to log in with my current password for the program, or I try the new one I set for the website, or trying to log in with a different account/change my password I get the same message every time the unable to communicate one. I can look at my tree still but I am unable to access the individual profiles or change or add any information on the tree. I was able to do all of this before changing my password on the website. I tried contacting MyHeritage and got no response. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program to no avail. Any information or help would be appreciated. Thanks.
