Hi, I deleted my online tree and uploaded a new version of the same tree. The tree has some 9.000 persons in it but after more than three months not a single smartmatch has occurred. No other matches either. The old tree (with more or less the same content) had several thousands matches
I cannot seem to add half siblings to my family tree and that's all I have. I have added a half sister and then tried to remove her connection to one of my parents and that won't work either. Can anyone help? Is anyone at MyHeritage paying attention?
I imported a gedcom tree to MyHeritage from genealogy software, but when I navigate to myself in the tree it asks if I'd like to invite myself to my site and talks about me as if I was another person.
Is there a way to say "this is me" ?
I have a one-person family tree that was created when I imported my DNA data, but I want to delete that and link the DNA data to my imported tree with 800 people on it. This site is not very intuitive. Or maybe I'm missing something obvious.
How do I arrange for the preservation and continuity of my site? I want to give instructions to my heirs on how to claim ownership of the site, even though I don't know at present which one of them would be willing to assume its care. (At least two of them are Mac users.)
The site treats both parents as one entity. It does not give the option for step-parents. You should be able to control the connection between parents individually without it automatically creating connections with the partner. For instance, it is creating two issues with my tree.
Firstly, my partner has a son that is not mine. If I add him as her son or her as his mother. It adds me as his father. If I connect him to his father it won't allow me to connect him to his mother without first disconnecting him from his father.
Secondly, I have not added my daughters' mother. It is automatically adding my partner as her mother. this incorrect
This needs to be changed so that parents can be dealt with individually without it affecting the other parent
I am getting an error "Date of Description of Douglas Paul Dietz (January 31 1898) occurred before his birth date (February 1 1947) Tip: Correct date of Description or birth date of Douglas Paul Dietz" when I run the Tree Consistency Checker.
I cannot find this January 31, 1898 error anyplace.
I've created a family tree with my wife and our ancestors and descendents, including siblings of each entry (including siblings of ancesors and descendents). How do I publish (create on the web) a subset of this tree displaying only a single person with that person's ancestors and descendents, including all siblings in the tree? For example, I'd like to publish only my side of the family tree (excluding my wife's ancestors) including everyone in the tree related to me (ancestors, descendents and siblings of everyone in the tree).
I just created a GEDCOM that marked my living relatives as "private" then uploaded it to MyHeritage. But when I view my tree online I am shocked to see my living relatives all have their names showing.
I hope this is only the view I see, and that everyone else only sees "private" or "living" or whatever, and their names are not visible. Please confirm asap. Thanks.
I have recently started to form my family tree. Unfortunately I have made one or two small errors, which I tried to rectify by removing data from them but it didn't remove the icon on my tree. Please can anyone tell me how I can do this as in some cases it looks as though my relative has more than one spouse etc. or in one case more children than they really do have.
I like to keep a clean and tidy tree as it could be confusing to others. Everyone makes mistakes now and then so this must have cropped up before. Please advise for the future.
I have corrected my family tree many times, both on the website and in the Family Tree Builder. It keeps marking my parents, my grandma on my mom's side, my brother and my brother's wife as deceased. They are all living and it's frustrating to see that it changed back. Has anyone else encountered this? What can I do to make it keep my changes?
I've spent days uploading supporting documents/photos to family members. Most of them seem to be gone / no longer associated with that family member. Anyone else having problems? Their "tech support" phone number just says that they are not available.
I don´t know if i use a good forum section but...
I recieved email 2 days ago that says my DNA test results are done. When i went to the page with them, site was only loading - neverending. It shows just basic stats but when i click on the full text view with results, nothing happened. Only rotating wheel. I try to use any kind of web browser but still the same. Only thing which is loading is that globe with percentual layout from redirect link in email.
What is the problem ? Is just server down ? And when i will be finaly able to see results ?
Entering the names of all these dead people into the family tree reminds me that I, too, am not immortal. That leaves a problem. How do I pass on control of the on-line tree I am creating to the next generation?
I have invited several family members to view our family tree but how do they access it? Presumably the invitations will only direct them to the website, but in order to see everything they will need to log on? Do I have to create user IDs and passwords for them using their email addresses stored on the family tree or do they have to go through a signing up process in order to see everything? I'd be very grateful for any help anyone can give me about this.
I've been using the free trial of paid membership thats been offered the last while to make use of a bunch of smart matches.
My problem is that I've had to add some family members I've found this way to my tree three times now, it keeps deleting them periodically (but curiously not spouses I've found who end up floating in their own little broken part of my tree).
Anyone ever experienced this before and maybe know what I'm doing wrong??
I have been using MH for a few years now and it has been very useful indeed.
I would really value communicating with another, more experienced, user of MH to help me understand some of the subtleties (smart) matching, etc... And to give hints on how to clean up some of the messy branches I have generated over the years.
I am in the south-West of England. Is there anyone out there? Or anyone who knows of MH user groups in my region or England in general?
I've tried to edit some information on people in my tree BUT when I click on their name and get the box on the left the "EDIT" pencil is light grey and I can't click on it. Can someone help me with this? Thanks in advance.
