i received email in regards to dna sample with kit no mh 6s7k2d my acc no being 424336492 the dna sample was in my wifes name of heather walton 1945 as the acc is in my name i received email from heritage saying that they had received it i have been having problems trying to activate it both emails i sent3/9/18 and bck in feb
hello I wonder can anyone give me an opinion .I had my DNA results lately and I'm sceptical to say the least .Family have lived in Northern Ireland hundreds of years as far back as anyone can trace .Both names in family are Gaelic with my mothers being one of the most Irish Gaelic names in Ireland indicating ancient Gaelic ancestry .I was surprised with the level of English DNA I had as it was half of my percentage .I have no known English ancestors and the other half of my result was Irish Scottish and Welsch at 47 percent .
No other Scandinavian Iberian north Western European basically Im 98.1 percent Irish and British .
This seems right although I'd guess the Germanic English percentage to be too high ?Does anyone know does the English ethnicity indicate Anglo Saxon heritage ?Im aware a lot of the low land Scottish who came over to Northern Ireland during the plantations were Germanic who spoke scots and still to this day speak Ulsterscots a Germanic tongue.
What is hard to belive is that I have 1 percent Nigerian !And 0,9 North African !
How could this be possible if I am over 98 percent Irish and English only ?No Iberian or Italian DNA to show a journey that an ancestor would have made from Africa up into Ireland or England .
Im suspicious of the authenticy of my result and feel that because my results are so homogenous which would back up the fact that my family have lived in isolated islands for thousands of years there is no explanation for Nigeria or North African result of 1,9 combined .Does anyone have any thoughts ?
A few years ago, I built a tree in Family Tree Builder and exported a Gedcom to populate a tree in Legacy Family Tree. Many years later, I discovered that the Gedcom had populated certain notes fields in Legacy with character strings beginning with '1 _UPD<and a long string of characters>' and '2 _UID<and a long string of characters>'. I had elected to save notes when I cut the original Gedcom. This garbage showed up in General Notes and Marriage Notes in the Legacy environment. I ran a Gedcom export saving notes today (3-1-2018) and these strings appear in the Gedcom export file. This junk appears when certain narrative products are run in Legacy so they have to be deleted one by one for every marriage contained in the original Gedcom export. I believe my Family Tree Builder software is patched to the current version.
i just received my DNA results and I am confused about Portugal, Spain and France being all put together.
I'm pure as can be French-Canadian on mother side all the way up to 1655 in LaRochelle, France. On father side I never met him but was told he might be half irish.
58.6% Iberian 27.8% Irish/Scotish/Welsh 11% Scandinavian 1,8% central Asia (Kazakhstan or something)
France is Iberian? Or should I read it like continental Celts that could work but very loosely? For the Irish results it confirmed what I was told about my father and I was very surprised at Scandinavian origins, probably also from the father side.
It seems strange that MyHeritage cannot slice a bit more Iberian from French when other dna companies can do it. Can we expect more precise profiles overtime?I know populations moved a lot but it's a bit extreme to put them all in same Iberian basket.
Is this Iberian thing normal for a French-Canadian?
My 17 yo daughter just got her results back and they are 60.7% english 32.4% scandinavian, 5.7% east european and 1.2% west african (nigeria).
Now, from my side (im the mother) i came from a dutch mother and scottish father (dutch could be explained as english and scandinavian as dutch is not really an ethnic group) but my fathers parents are both traced back in our family tree to at least 1500 in scotland.
Scotland was originally populated by irish celts and iris welsh and scottish is marked as an individual ethnic group, how is it that 0.0% of her dna matches with scottish irish or welsh?
She is a first grade granddaughter so surely the scottish dna just hasnt dissapeared?
I posted on a thread in here about ethnicity estimates changing overnight---and now it is gone. This was about a week ago. Was this actually deleted? I tried searching my name--and the words "ethnicity estimate changed" (which is how I originally found the thread) and it does not pull it up. Geeeeez---what gives?
Two members of my family sent off swabs on Jan 27th which is 23 days ago. Neither are showing up as received by the lab. I can't believe that any item sent 1st class could take that long, so what could have happened to them?
Is there any facility to resend tests? Or, could they have been received but not logged?
I already wrote to the support, but I don't have hopes up to get an answer soon and I wanted to hear whether others have encountered similar problems.
My results are simple: 67,6% England, 31,3% Eastern Europe, 1,1% Finland. The problem is, my family tree goes back three generations on either side and they were all living in Northern Germany, from my father's side in Schleswig-Holstein and from my mother's side two generations ago they came from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Eastern Germany), thus, the Eastern European part seems legit, many have Slavic ethnicity background there, that is what I expected.
But no single mentioning of Germany seems off, and England never appears in any of the past generations, that go back up until 1800.
I uploaded my raw DNA data to GEDmatch and they calculated according to Eurogenes - K36 a much more plausible picture. They depicted Northern Germany and Denmark as the most, then the North Sea in general, including Eastern England (which seems logical, as the earlier Germanic settlers in England were Saxons, Jutes and Angles coming from Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark). So, why is it that other sites can calculate my DNA with much more precision than MyHeritage? I understand that due to the history, Northern Germany, South Scandinavian, Eastern England may be very similar. But when the calculation method is not ripe enough to distinguish it accordingly, it should simplify them but not show me completely inaccurate results.
Thanks to GEDmatch, I can now comprehend my genetic history way better, thanks to more accurate results that match neatly with my historical records.
I think, it is sad, that MyHeritage cannot do the same with the same raw DNA material. I'd like to have similar results shown in MyHeritage, too, as I like the layout and display and I don't want to have abstract information about my real heritage in numbers from other sites but have a display here with completely different(/wrong?) results.
Has anyone of you experienced similar wrong calculations? I often heard that some bug and mistakes in the calculation are spitting out wrong results for others, too. Unfortunately, my DNA was just tested, when beta 0.95 was published and I cannot see, whether according to the older beta 0.9 the results would have been more accurate.
I have already researched a great deal of my family tree and have placed some of it on myheritage tree. You will see my Father was Irish as was his father and his before. My Irish Grandmother has Scottish history (Edinburgh). However my DNA results showed English 77.9% and Scandinavian 22.1%. Your list of countries show Ireland and Scotland so please explain my dissapointed results? Also my DNA must go back much further. Not at all impressed.
I got an email today saying that the gender I selected didn't match my DNA sample, I am a female. I was born female, and identity as such. My tracker had advanced to "microarray in process" and my results were predicted starting tomorrow. What do I do?
I had need to contact UK support using the uk number given on 'contact us page' 08000988125 but this is an 'Unrecognised number' - I suspect too many zeros? As on an email I have, the number is 0800988125, however, when dialilng that I get "Sorry, this number is temporarily unavailable"
What is happening at MyHeritage support, are they shutting down?
UK Phone number is now working.
Also, finally received reply to my email.
I am admin. of my family site that I started along with other family members. I am only able to view the results of my DNA test. I was able to view others earlier. Today my Daughters DNA results became avaliable but I cannot view them. No other site member can view any of them including themselves. I have 3 tickets in to support over the last 2 weeks. Nothing has changed and I have recieved no response except to say they recieved my complaints and would get back to me. What is going on. Why can't I view the results?
01 Feb-2018,I NEED FOR “MANAGER CUSIDOR” TO BE REMOVED, IT WAS DONE BY MY HERITAGE NOT ME MY EMAIL LUISMLAMBERT@GMAIL.COM PLEASE REPLY
After signing up with My Heritage, I started my first project named “Lambert”, it grew so big (4272) then I decided to add a new tree with the last name of one of my family member included in the Lambert tree, and I named it “Cusidor”.
Profile in stupidity: I will email the following to someone in charge at My Heritage: (Cusidor Problem)
1. I go to Family sites, my profile page: It shows My wife Carol Shouldn’t it be Lambert?
2. I go to my site: Lambert, manager Cusidor
3. I go to my profile: Lambert is the manager of Cusidor
4. I go to my site: Cusidor is the manager of Lambert (4275 people)
5. I go to Lambert my profile: Cusidor manager
6. I go to Account Settings: Looks good until I notice that the password only has 6 lines my is always 10
7. I go to My privacy: Cusidor has control over access and content
8. I go to My purchases: Cusidor Site and data subscriptions, Cusidor, active, next billing date----2018
9. Cusidor has been assigned an id #469294---. Lambert ID is: 763187----
10. Cusidor was assigned: Cusidor@myheritage.com
11. Cusidor email address: none
So I send an email explaining the problem: that Cusidor was added to my account without my knowledge.
A few days later I call 1-800-987-9000: Yes, we received your email but what you state is not our doing
I remind the woman (would not give me her name) that to add a manager is a process I did not do the process, nor a typo error, and the new manager has to receive an email acknowledging that he is the manager.
I ask the woman, what is the email of Cusidor? He does not have one she said, so how Cusidor could acknowledge? I don’t know she replied.
I spent about 15 minutes explaining the problem
At that I am getting pi--- off. Madam, sometimes I cannot sync because of this problem. No answer.
Madam I tell her: I told you three times that Cusidor is DEAD, it is just an entry on my original Lambert tree, he still there, can you look it up?
Woman: I have no access to that information
Lambert: But madam, I have not received any coincidences for ten days, I usually get 10-50 per day.
Woman: I don’t know what coincidences are
Lambert: Are you an employee of My Heritage, or are you in a call center? I WAS DISCONNECTED
First of all, we had no warning that we would need to send the tests to the USA at our own cost (we are in the UK). It should be explained to all customers when purchasing the package that they have to spend more money in order to get their results - we are already spending a lot of money and it is an unpleasant shock to find this out.
Secondly, did you make the results up?! My husband received his results today and - on already knowing his more recent past - that his father is from Northern Ireland with Irish decent (his grandmother’s family are all from Ireland), and his mother who is Australian with British and German heritage - we were shocked to see the results that you gave us are 98.8% English and 1.2% Nigerian. For one, Irish decent said 0% which we know is utterly false, and there is no mention of Germany. Have you seen that we were based in England and just thought “ah we’ll just put that he’s mostly English and chuck in a dab of something else?” - or have his results been mixed up with someone else?! Either way - we’re extremely disappointed.
Lastly, we were less than impressed with the amount of information given in the test results. That it says 98.8% English and 1.2% Nigerian and that is all the information there is. We know that www.ancestry.co.uk breaks down the data into “hundreds of years ago” and “1000 years ago”, etc. I felt like we would have a bit more of an insight than just "98.8% English and 1.2% Nigerian".
I am yet to receive my results (even though they were sent at the same time as my husband’s), but whatever they are I will not trust them because of the clear failure in producing correct results for my husband.
I have been trying to connect me fathers' tree for many years, but finding information is very difficult.
My father was a WILLIAMS whose ancestery dates back to Cornwall, where it seems that half the population was named WILLIAMS.
I have successfully traced back to WILLIAM WILLIAMS (born 1812) and his wife ELIZABETH PORTER, but from there I seem to be going around in circles. I once spent over a year researching a family whom I thought was the ancestors of this WILLIAM, but alas it was not the correct family.
I have reason to think that a JOHN WILLIAMS and GRACE BRAM(N)WELL is connected to this family, but cannot find that elusive link between the two families.
Health issues mean that now I cannot spend as much time as I would like researching this family, and if I cannot make a break through in the near future, I feel that I will just have to give up which I would hate to do.
Many thanks for any tips to point me in the right direction
im new here and have contacted two members through private messages to see if we share a link with a person I’m researching, neither of them have replied. I’m just wondering if there’s anything else I could try? I desperately need answers. Thanks, An.
I have seen multiple threads requesting a pedigree view for years, but no response from MyHeritage. MyHeritage has a pedigree view for DNA matches, why not for our family trees? I am a long-time family historian who has thousands of people in my tree. The current vertical tree view. showing all family members, is unwieldy.
MyHeritage has recently released major innovations to its DNA matching system which have to potential to make it the best DNA system anywhere. But without allowing people to easily navigate their own family trees, MyHeritage is missing a huge market of people who are finding MyHeritage too frustrating to use.
MyHeritage has proven that it has the capability to show family trees in pedigree view. Please make this available to all trees so that people with more than a few people in their family tree will be able to use MyHeritage.
MyHeritage is almost there with a great website. Please release the horizontal pedigree view.
Recently I had 250 hits to my DNA. 2 eventually turned out to be NOT RELATED but somehow ended up as a match. Some were correct, some "no surnames shared. Some seem to be improbable as they are Scandinavian and in no way connected to my Ancestry.
My DNA showed I was 31% Sephardic Jew. I have looked up the meaning of Sephardic Jews Where did they originally come from? Were they part of the Jewish tribes? Some sites say they were not Jews or are not accepted as Jews. Can you enlighten me please? 28% of my DNA says I am Italian but cannot find any connection to Italy.
